I agree with your idea about the Eastern mindset, but please don't handwave seventy years of atrocities and terror with "but they also built roads!"
Did we kill a lot of ppl? Yes. A lot of ppl died from bad policy. I don't know but when ever I speak to my friends (all my friends are from eastern countries) none of them think that the mass deaths were all that impactful. Yeah I know we are very cold people . I understand we messed up really badly, but we understood our mistakes and fixed them post stalin's reign. You cant blame one individual for the countrys entire history.
We understand that Russia has fixed its mistakes, and now it's an awesome country. However, you're trying to say that, even before you fixed your mistakes, you were still a good country, even though the USSR, before 1991, when it was a Marxist-Leninist dictatorship.
We're not actually attempting to change anyone's perspective. Just debating for the sake of it.
That's not very productive.
It can be. It allows one to sharpens one's rhetoric and exposes both sides to the other's opinion.

From a historian's point of view, it's not a religion until it's institutionalized. Before that it's not a religion.
Religion just means belief. If someone believes something, anything, that is their religion. If someone thought that the world was a giant gumball created by Elvis, even if they didn't write a book about it, it would still be their religion.
I'm a fan of many of his accomplishments, but he was apparently a very immoral person. I can't get over my new knowledge of his Bible-editing. He has joined Abe Lincoln in my list of people who are regarded as heroes but I have learned otherwise.
I agree. He was also a huge hypocrite, like how he hated how Hamilton ran the bank, but used the same system to buy Louisiana, or how he hated slavery but owned slaves.
The reason they fought with the Nazis was because Hitler broke the nonagression pact. The reason they allied themselves with us is because they wanted to come out of the war with more power.
We didn't want to increase power of the ussr. Stalins main goal (like all Russian foreign policy) was to get as much land inbetween the west and Moscow, to prevent anyone from rapidly invading and taking over the country.
Churchill and Stalin divided up Europe and Stalin kept his part of the Bargain.
He also said we have a new covenant, why don't we have animal sacrifices or Priests, or Temples?
Jesus fulfilled those things. But he didn't fulfill music, that doesn't make any sense. We can praise the Lord any way we want, as long as it's honest praise, it's okay.
