Everybody, we now have a new sneak peek of Sons of Garmadon. I'm not all that excited, for a few reasons:
-Jay and Cole are going to spend so much time in this getting into loads of pointless arguments.
-Jay forgets about "ninja never quit" and just gives up on finding Wu.
-Zane literally says "Does anyone like ice cream? I do!".
However, there are things that do interest me:
-Time travel is going to be a big part of this season, although I'm not sure how the Hagemans can do it without confusing new fans.
-Zane can actually project his movie design over his titanium skin as a disguise. It's not a very good disguise because of the blue eyes, but I think it's a nice way to blend the show with the movie.
-Tommy Andreasan confirmed that Harumi is the princess of Ninjago. She makes no appearance in this sneak peek, but it'll still be interesting to see the monarchy of Ninjago.
That's all I have to say for now.
I think the Hageman brothers may be having a tough time creating a story that links with the earlier seasons -- particularly Hands of Time --, that draws in new viewers because of the Lego Ninjago Movie, that sells sets so Lego can get more money, and explains the changes to the characters' physical designs, all the while trying to stay true to the world and characters they've worked on and loved for so long. Unless they planned on the events of Hands of Time, they probably feel a little frazzled after David Shane shook up the show and are trying to piece it back together. Still, they sound pretty confidant that we as the fans are going to love the new season, and the actors say the same -- even Brent Miller, whose favorite season for the longest time was Season 1 because of nostalgia (and the fact that Zane had bigger parts then), is trying to decide if Season 8 is his new favorite. I never expected anything much from HoT, but something about the confidence and eagerness of the Ninjago crew is making me feel as if this season has much to offer for us fans.
(Merely my opinion, of course. )
Wait -- Ninjago has a princess now?? Is that who the white-haired lady in the green gown is??
It makes perfect sense to me. We've never seen the ruler of Ninjago before, but now we're going to find out who. I'm 99% sure it's Hutchins.
I feel like Ninjago's ruler would've appeared in season 2 after Ninjago City was evacuated though. Not to mention sending his soldiers to deal with the Nindroids in New Ninjago City in season 3.
I've always wondered if Ninjago didn't have some sort of monarchy or mayorship, which would make more sense given the modern feel of the cities and towns that are run smoothly and together and not usually independently. I assumed the writers just pushed that question aside so that the ninja could do their thing saving the world without some guy/girl with a fancy title trying to talk them into joining the police force instead of being an independent team or something.
Oh, and Lloyd's green eyes glow when he does spinjitzu.
ooh shiny
I've heard it said (probably by Tommy Andreasan) that the ninja are "maturing in their elemental powers" or something, but it could be because of this supposed alternative timeline Master Wu may have caused. Either way, it really just sounds like an excuse for the use of TLNM designs.
What do you guys think of the new designs and that may having something to do with Sensei Wu changing time???
I think they look fine actually, much better than I thought they would. Unfortunately, I hate movie Kai's hair, so I'm going to hate seeing that though. And Misako better not look young like she did in the movie, because that would make absolutely no sense.
*grimace* I agree.
On the bright side, if she did end up looking like that, it would make everyone think she didn't give birth to Lloyd at age forty.

Misako could put orange dye in her hair to make herself look younger. Although she can't get rid of her wrinkles.

A mayor of Ninjago City was mentioned in season 2.

Personally, I really hate the movie designs. However, I saw another sneak peek that suggests they're appearances have been altered by Sensei Wu changing the past, which could mean that when his fate is resolved they change back. It's unlikely,. but it's possible and would resolve the current plothole that was created by changing the ninja's appearances after they've seen they're future selves with their normal ones.

I don't like any of the movie designs except for Nya and Lloyd.

I gathered from the sneak peek that it was the Time Twins messing in the past (maybe with Sensei Wu too) that altered the appearances.
But anyway, it's going to be great! I've seen it; ask LordTigress, she knows.
