Thoughts:
I think Season 8 looks like it's going to the best season so far. New characters, possibly old enemies, a plot set in the far future, and far more. This just looks explosive.
I'd also like to note that the Hagemans were working on a show called Trollhunters, which has gotten very strong reception. I think that could have gave them a lot more experience during the writing, which could carry the show further than it could have gone before.
Right now, so much is expected from Season 8. If the creators can satisfy most of those, Season 8 will be fantastic.
I know this is (five days) old news, but someone has leaked the new Sons of Garmadon sets. I thought we wouldn't see Sons of Garmadon until Summer 2018, but it seems I was wrong.

{JAMMERS! -For Those Who Like Spoilers- ONLY!} In comic con, it has been seen that Lloyd has a new look in season 8, along with a new voice actor too! His mask is a recoloring of the LEGO NINJAGO MOVIE MASK, and the transition also affected his eyes, as they are green now. Contacts?

{Return of the Spoilers } Well Wu isn't aging super fast anymore, because he was cured of the time punch effects using the reversal time blade. Nevertheless, he could possibly die in season 8. I also think Cole should get a season, along with a second, 10-episode season for Zane...but I'm beginning to suspect that every season will star Lloyd after the movie.

Wait a minute...
According to jgread, the Reversal Time Blade stopped Wu from aging faster. But if the Forward Time Blade made him age faster, the Reversal Time Blade would make him age BACKWARDS. So perhaps he is the baby in Temple of Resurrection?
