As promised, a separate topic for my character profiles. You'll find a great number of these characters to be very recognizable, although I have shifted some of the details (we meet Harumi much earlier, for example). We'll start with a couple extra characters from S1 that aren't particularly important, but at least one will be seen again: Adam Istar, the Phantom Ninja. I'll do his profile first.

So, F.I.R.E. , when are you going to start uploading these profiles? It's been over seven months since this thread was uploaded and I would like to see what you've done with the characters.

The Phantom Ninja
“You knew Sensei Wu well enough to make bets with him? I thought you two were bitter enemies!” “That’s just the story we agreed to tell.”
The Phantom Ninja was a character from Greg Farshtey’s Ninjago books set in the pilot season. He was a character-building plot device designed to solidify Cole’s position as leader among his teammates, and I left that part of his story completely unchanged. Also identical is his backstory - he used to be a bandit, before Wu caught him, and took him under his wing for a while rather than take him to jail. The phantom ninja learned, among plenty of other neat tricks, Spinjitzu, and he was the first person Sensei Wu approached to join his team of ninja, years later. The Phantom didn’t work for free and turned Wu down, but they still kept in touch, leading to him being said character-building plot device. Most things I added were little details, and results of retcons. Firstly, I gave him a name: Adam Istar. Secondly, I made him an Elemental Master, since I’d already retconned Morro and Nya out of their respective powers for various characterization reasons. Lars “Lar” Franco became the Master of Water, and Adam Istar became the Master of Wind. Sensei Wu sought out Elemental Masters to join his ninja team, and Adam, whom he knew best out of them all, was first on the list.

Rykh
The character Rykh is entirely original, and is Samukai’s competitor for the extra set of arms that come with being the General. I kind of went over her in the past, as she takes a supporting role in Volume 1, talking to Nya during her captivity and helping her in her attempt to escape. When Samukai is destroyed, Rykh reclaims leadership, and her policy is strict - the living are not allowed down here.

Wu
And now, we move into Volume 2. Wu’s role here is largely unchanged, but a good deal more focus is placed on a glaring character flaw of his - the mistakes of his past led to horrible results, and thus, he keeps a lot of important knowledge very secret. Not the least of which is the prophecy of the Green Ninja, which led his son to madness, an eventuality he doesn’t want to see repeated. He has a lot of guilt, and the events of the next few seasons will bring all that guilt to the surface, leading up to his demise in Volume 6 at the hands of what may be his greatest failure. Wu is a much more tragic figure here than he is in the source material, and his guilt is explored as he travels to the realm of Yin to find his brother. And yes, he knew where Garmadon went the entire time, but no way was he leading his students there on a mission.

Nya
As you all may recall, Nya gets up to a lot this season. Borne mostly of the need to prove to her brother that she’s no longer a kid, Nya’s Samurai X persona was developed very soon after her liberation from the Underworld. She does most of her construction and repair in a secret cave not far from the Spinjitzu Monastery, and uses expectations to her advantage - she’s always right back where her brother and his teammates expect her to be when they return. Sensei Wu knows, but… well, he’s Sensei Wu. He’s an expert in secrets.

Zane
This season, each ninja is developing their bond with their respective Golden Weapon. To do this, as you may recall, they must reach peak physical and mental condition. Zane’s mental block is his amnesia - he has no recollection of his family or his life before the village of Fuyumura took him in. He’s immensely grateful for his new found family, but the mystery plagues him nonetheless.
(I have them listed in the order they unlock their energy forms, which means Zane is first.)

Jay
This season, each ninja is developing their bond with their respective Golden Weapon. To do this, as you may recall, they must reach peak physical and mental condition. Jay’s mental block is Nya. He likes her a lot, but he sees her as far out of his league. Even before he discovers her awesome double life. His fear of the unattainable ideal in Nya is holding him back.

Cole
This season, each ninja is developing their bond with their respective Golden Weapon. To do this, as you may recall, they must reach peak physical and mental condition. Cole’s mental block is his strained relationship with his father, Lou, who imagined his future to be something very different than what it became. He still struggles with his image of himself because of the image Lou imposed on him.

Kai
This season, each ninja is developing their bond with their respective Golden Weapon. To do this, as you may recall, they must reach peak physical and mental condition. Kai’s mental block is his obsession with the prophecy of the Green Ninja. They all want it, but Kai’s hard-wired provider mindset, the notion that he must be the one to step up and protect those around him, has left him intensely driven.

Lloyd
Lloyd Montgomery Garmadon has lived a tortuous, sheltered life. He was stolen from his birth parents as an infant, doesn’t remember either of them, and has spent over 500 years in a crooked, inescapable boarding school run by a dark wizard who calls himself Malcrul Darkley. Most of his best friends have passed from old age, as he rotated through the same classes again and again, until his father - Lord Garmadon - came to him in a dream and told him he needed to get out of there. Now, Lloyd, on his own, searches for his ghostly father, unaware of his true nature. Searching for any means by which he can free him from the Underworld. (Don’t y’all worry, he’s still obsessed with sugar.) On his first encounter with Sensei Wu’s ninja, Lloyd Montgomery Garmadon finds himself woefully unprepared to combat their Spinjitzu. His walk of shame leads him into the catacombs of Jamanakai, where he finds a dagger with a map engraved on it…

Forgot one. A pretty important one... I figured I'd do it now to let fantasius1111 and ninjagofanmam know that I'm still alive...
The Skeletons
All who die eventually reach the Underworld, and there, free souls live until they choose to be reborn. (The dead do not eat, drink, or sleep, and those who once knew those simple pleasures tend to desire them after enough time…) But for those who choose to stay dead, there is an opportunity. The skeleton army is ruled by a Lord and trained as a garrison, to keep living souls out and departed ones - and darker things - in. They were never meant to fight in the land of the living. (Which, for the record, is why they’re such pushovers up in the Overworld. Even the bumbling Nuckal and Kruncha are quite fearsome on their home turf.) They only venture to the living world to claim souls that should have died - or to cast out souls that should be alive. But when Garmadon was banished there, he refused to leave, and his defeat of the Dead Lord Samukai allowed him to assume the skeleton army for his own ends…
