Lloyd broke into a run and after thirty feet or so, he abruptly turned to the right and ducked into another alley near the museum. Shrieking fans ran past him and a couple minutes later the screaming died down. Good. They were gone. “Whew,” Lloyd gave a sigh of relief and cautiously glanced around the side of the museum. He darted out of the backstreet and casually walked to the museum. The Museum of Magic and Zozology was a large building made of light grey stone with stone steps leading up to it. At the top of the stairs, was a blue-grey awning with crystal-like lights dangling from it and supported by two decorative pillars. Beneath the awning, near the doors, were two magnificent lions made of dark granite and guarding the entrance. Crowning the building was a large rectangular sign with ‘The Museum of Magic and Zozology’ printed on it in curving, iridescent sapphire-blue and amethyst-purple print. Altogether, the museum almost looked more like something out of fairytale than a piece of the modern city. Lloyd climbed the stone steps of the museum and walked into the cool, air-conditioned museum. Dim bluish light and quiet observers greeted him as he glanced around at the displays around him. In the center of this room was a complete skeleton of a human but with the tail, spine, collar bones, teeth and claws of a cat resting on a granite rectangle. About three yards divided the cat display on both sides from a group of five pillars running from the doors to the wide, low stairs at the back of the room. Behind the pillars were smaller displays in glass terrariums, each containing small, strange creatures Lloyd had never seen before like small winged lizards or feathered mice. At the top of the stairs Lloyd saw larger displays but couldn’t quite tell what they were from that distance. He walked around and found a service desk near the stairs and pillars on the left. A man wearing an incredible scowl sat behind the desk, “How may I help you.” He asked flatly. “Um, do you know where I can find Tori Jones?” He inquired cautiously, not wishing to deepen the man’s scowl. “Mrs. Jones is—” “Lloyd?” cried a voice. This museum sounds amazing!! Love it!! Thank you!

That's great! XD Your Mom asks good questions! She has a point! I thought so. Very true, she should ask whomever decided the word that. She should! Btw, my name is Thomas! You can call me that if you want to!

Lloyd glanced over Tori’s shoulder to see a tall woman approaching them. She wore a short black dress and shiny black heels. Glossy black hair fell to her shoulders, framing arching eyebrows, narrowed ice-blue eyes and a confident, smug smile. From her impeccably straight, glossy hair to her sure expression to the very way she held herself, she had an air of confidence and power. One hand was cocked on her hip and one eyebrow arched higher that the other. The Queen of Confidence was flanked by serious, statues of bodyguards so straight-faced Lloyd wondered if ‘humor’ was even in their vocabularies.
A brief look of worry and almost fear crossed Tori’s face but she quickly composed herself and turned up her own confidence, “Why, Madame Night! What a pleasant surprise!” She said with a winning smile.
“I see a display has been removed from the Hall of the Non-humans,” Madame Night said, “a very important artifact.” A glare edged into her confidant smile and her bodyguards took a hint, glaring at Tori full blast.
Lloyd could see that Tori was struggling to keep her polite tone and smile, “What artifact would you be referring to, Madame Night?” Tori asked, surreptitiously clenching her hands into fists. “There are many relics in the Hall, you know.”
“The Mother Tooth, of course,” Madame Night told her. “Nekoyama history is my passion, I would love to study it or at least read about this museum’s finds on it.” she explained, then began explaining further about her passion. “You see, I would merely like to study it, is that too much to ask?” Madame Night asked sincerely.
Tori frowned, “Well, too bad, that piece is locked up and won’t be on exhibit for another month; come back then.”
For a long moment the two women glared at each other tensely.
Finally, Madame Night broke the silence, “Yes, well, see that you put the Mother Tooth back on display soon… or suffer the consequences.” she hissed, menacingly.
“How dare you! Threaten me in my own museum will you! Well, I’ll have you know—”
“I’ll be leaving now.” With that said, Madame Night turned around and stalked out the door, her sharp heels clacking on the floor, leaving a flabbergasted Tori behind her.

Tori was furious and red-faced, “Why that pompous, arrogant, big-headed, frog-faced, llama-chewing, hippo-snorting, moon-blasted daughter of a black-hearted blob of potato slobber! Never in my all my life—!” She fumed. Her face changed abruptly, “Lloyd, come with me I have something to show you.” She said and began walking up the nearby stairs.
Lloyd followed and she led him near some dragon bone exhibits, through the ‘enchanted’ ruins of a citadel, around the mutated water buffalo display, down a set of stairs, into the basement of the building and into a small storage room.
The room was small a bright, each wall lined with shelves containing relics taken off or to be put on display. Tall clay pots crisscrossed in spidery writing stood on some shelves while others held scraps of fur or scales or claws and some were artifacts of gem and magic. But one relic on the back shelf immediately caught Lloyd’s eye; a foot long tooth. At the bottom, it was encased in silver and studded with black gems. The tooth itself was covered in a strange script he’d never seen before and it seemed to give off a bright luminescence.
“Wow,” Lloyd said quietly, “Is that the Mother Tooth thing?” he asked in awe.
“Yep, once the most sacred relic of the nekoyama, literally, the tooth of the first queen. It has tons of mysterious magic and will ‘light the path of the destined one and guide her paws to victory.’ Allegedly.” She said wryly. “Sure, I’m the curator of a museum on magic and zozology but I don’t believe in some of it.”
Lloyd nodded, “Interesting, that’s neat.”
“Yeah, I think s—” Her words were interrupted by a hiss outside the door and a sound like claws on wood. Tori’s eyes widened, “Lloyd, you need to get out of here, it’s not safe.” She grabbed a large cloth and wrapped it around the tooth and shoved it into a tall clay vase. Then she reached out and grabbed a handle hidden under the back shelf, pulled out the set of shelves like a door, revealing a passage. Lloyd gasped as a cold gust of stale air blasted him in the face, smelling of dust and mildew. The woman stuffed a wrinkled piece of parchment into his hand and pushed Lloyd in to the passageway.

It had been about a month since the Day of the Departed and most of the ninja neglected their training and only trained three or sometimes four times a week. They had their own reasons, and since Lloyd was unable to get them to willingly practice as much as they should, they slacked off. Lloyd was mid-thought when his mother interrupted, “Alright, what’s wrong?” She asked, sitting down at the table next to him, “You seem troubled, what’s on your mind?” “What do you mean?” “When you’re not training, you’ve been restlessly pouting with that look in your eyes, the ‘I need to do something’ look. For the last three weeks.” She informed him, “I’m worried.” “Ninja don’t pout.” Lloyd joked, nervously trying to not reveal that his mom was one-hundred and ten percent right. “Fine, you’re not pouting your moping. Still, what’s wrong?” Misako said. Lloyd exhaled loudly, his mom always won when she got like this, “It’s just, well, my team doesn’t train as much as they should anymore. Usually just a couple times a week rather than every day. We’re not going to be prepared if something bad happens just like what happened with the Anacondrai Cultists, we were unprepared and would have lost if dad h—you know what I mean. We won’t be ready to defend Ninjago if we don’t sharpen our skills.” He explained, slowly, “One second we were fighting villains and getting better every day and now everyone’s always busy with un-ninja related things. Even Nya and she used to be more committed than me. What happened? Why is everyone so busy lately? I’m not busy so why are they?” “I understand, you feel like you know what’s right, but no one will listen to you. Maybe, just maybe I know a way you can help change their minds.” She said, sympathetically. Misako wrapped her arms around her son in comforting hug, “I’ll talk to Wu but I want you to talk to the team. Invite them to a meal at a restaurant, you and your friends like that noodle place, Mister Chen’s, right? Or something like that, just somewhere you and the team can talk.” She was right. She was always right. How did she do that? Lloyd’s mom had a solution for everything. "Ninja don't pout." Love it.
