Batboy meets Gwenpool
By Drake Cahill
Malcolm Drac
My name is Malcolm Drac. I was created in a laboratory and raised there for the first thirteen years of my life. My DNA is a genetic anomaly, a creation of man, a merging of Bruce Wayne's DNA as well as the DNA from an unknown source.
The unknown source was supposedly the part that gave me my extraordinary abilities. I can shapeshift, levitate, teleport, and transform into a bat.
I am a vampire. But most of the time I don't sneak into people's bedrooms at night and bite people. No, that only happens during times of great evil, like during a blood moon, or All Hallow's Eve.
My human DNA does put some limitations on my weaknesses and powers, though. That's why I didn't break out sooner.
When the Gotham Knights destroyed the headquarters--Bruce Wayne, aka Batman, Barbara Gordon, aka Batgirl, Dick Grayson, aka Nightwing, Tim Drake, aka Red Robin, Damian Wayne, aka Robin--I escaped with them. I followed them to their "secret" hideout, the Batcave, and, after a series of rather unfortunate events, became the newest member of the Bat Family.
Barbara won the naming rights, and I became Batboy.
I fought crime in New Gotham City, as the teen vampire protector of the night. I teamed up with all the other members of the family. Multiple Robins and Batgirls, the Spoiler, Azrael, Batman of Zur-Ahn-Urr or whatever. Superboy was my favorite partner by far.
I fought every menace out there. The Joker, the Riddler, Condiment King, Egghead, Dark Seid.
But now I am faced with my greatest challenge ever. I have fought a super-mutant named Wolfbane, the embodiment of fear itself, a deranged mime with mental powers, and even Superman once or twice. I have traveled to the ends of the earth, the edges of space, and the sub-quantum realm beneath them.
Nothing, and I mean nothing, in reality and fiction, could have prepared me for...

Me! GWENPOOL! That's right, everybody! I'm your favorite mercenary and super hero, and I'm the star of the story! Batboy? Who's that? Bat-boy... Nope, doesn't ring a bell! OH! That Batboy! Yeah, he's great! Me and him are in this crossover together! Isn't that cool? So I'm supposed to tell you about myself. My origin story, kinda. So it all started in your world. I was one of you! One of the boring normal people. Blech. I really loved comic books. I read them all! Spider-Man, Iron Man, Hulk, etc. Somehow, I managed to wind up in the world of super heroes! Ah, ah... fanfiction world. I was kinda shooting for the actual comic world, but hey. In the comic world I would've been able to hop out of a panel. Here, I have the amazing ability to actually narrate the story! I can't stray to far from fact, though, but it can still come in handy. Anyway, I had my tailor make me a costume, and I got training from several undisclosed sources. Now I'm Gwenpool, the mercenary! Why? Because I'm in a fanfic! Nothing I do here really matters! I can do what I want, when I want. And no one can stop me.

I walked through the metallic corridors flanked by two S.H.I.E.L.D. agents.
My costume consists of black boots and gloves, an adamantium-laced t-shirt with the yellow-and-black Batman logo on it, black slacks, yellow utility belt, and an eye mask with a white rim and black lenses. My hair was black and rather long. My long black cape swept across the steel floor.
We turned a corner. After a few feet the corridor was blocked off by a titanium-reinforced door. One of the agents produced a key card, but I waved my hand and the door hissed open.
"That won't be necessary." I said flatly. The agent put away the card.
The corridor ahead was lined with high-tech detention cells. Each door was vaccuum-sealed, reinforced with shatter-proof glass and near-indestructibly alloys.
Within each cell was a criminal. Plain and simple. Most of them were extremely dangerous. These men and women had been driven mentally insane, they've been physically altered. They are each capable of mass destruction.
That is why they are all prisoners aboard the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier.
Down at the end was a cell that was usually empty. But recently it was the home to one criminal. Not as dangerous as the others and certainly not as evil.
"Selina Kyle." I said.
The woman looked up. Black hair, green eyes. She had been changed into a standard prison jumpsuit, just like all the rest. She gaped at me with surprise.
"Ma--Batboy?" Selina said, catching herself before she made a fatal error.
Yes, she knew. Every member of the Bat Family knew each other's identity.
And yes, the Catwoman is a member of the Bat Family. We can't all have the pleasure of being bat-themed, now, can we? *cough*robin*cough*
The cell door opened. That's one of my powers. I can unlock any locked door.
"What are you doing here?" Selina asked.
"Batman sent me to bail you out." I said.
She groaned. "Fantastic."
"It's not like he can't afford it." I said. "But tell me this: why did you attempt to steal that necklace? We all thought you had gone straight since a year ago."
She had been a member of the Bat Family since her reckoning about a year ago. That means she's newer to this hero business than even me.

"I had my reasons." Selina said.
I'll bet you did, I thought. She heard me. One of my powers. Go on, why did you try to steal the necklace?
Selina looked at me.
Because someone even worse was going to steal it, she thought. Someone powerful.
The man with the cloak? I thought. I had read the case file on the way.
I've heard stories about him, Selina thought. About what a guy like him could do with a necklace like that.
What's so special about it?
You won't believe me.
Try me.
Selina was silent for a moment.
Magic, she thought. The necklace is supposed to be magic.
I sighed. "Okay." I turned to the agents. "Thank you, gentlemen. Now if you'll excuse me, we'll be leaving."
"Affirmative." An agent said. The two walked back down the corridor. "And ah, don't forget to lock up."
"I never do." I said. Selina stood.
"So, where can I get my things?" She asked.
"I had someone put them in the Batplane." I said. "Whip, costume and all."
Selina and I began walking through the corridors, pasing a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent every once in a while. Eventually we came upon an elevator. We got in, and it took us to the top.
I winced. The top of the Helicarrier was a huge tarmac, bathed in the hot sun... I hated the sun.
"Come on." I said grumpily.
We walked over to a long, sleek craft. It had realistic bat wings, a bat face on the front, and a bat-like tail on the back.
"Ah. The old Batplane." Selina said.
"The one and only." I muttered.
We hopped in. The darn thing just had holes in the top, no cockpits. No shade.
"Should I fly?" Selina asked from the backseat.
"I'm fine." I snapped.
"Okay, yeesh."
After a few pre-flight checks, we were good to go. We rolled down the tarmac and took off, headed towards shore. The Helicarrier was parked over New York harbor.
Just as I finished circling around, there was an explosion on the tarmac below. I spotted a lot of gunfire, and unfortunately, some of it was directed at us. I twisted and pulled, maneuvering, but it was too late.
"We're going down." I shouted over the sound of the burning engine. "Brace for impact." I said as I steered towards the Hudson.
As we went down, I wondered, who the heck was causing all that ruckus?

So being a non-fictional girl in a fanfictional world means that sooner or later, you're gonna hafta getta job. Unless you're me, then you've got merc work!
But rent was due, so I needed to pull a big job fast. Break Deadpool out of the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier. An easy $5,000.
Sadly, my foolproof escape plan went awry when I accidently chucked a grenade at a helicopter.
KABOOM!!
Guess who they blamed that for?
"Wow, nice job, kid!" Deadpool said. "Some rescue mission! Now get these cuffs off me!" He held up his hands, which were encased in very secure power-proof gauntlets.
"I'm working on it!" I said.
I wore my usual uniform, provided by my tailor, Ronnie. It was styled after Deadpool's costume, but distinct in my own way. It has a mask, shirt, sleeves, gloves, and boots. No pants, though. Do have several holsters and sheaths for my weapons. Lots of pink and white. Really cool looking.
Dozens of Shieldies were shooting at me, so I did my best to return the favor. "Eat lead, mother huggers!" I shouted.
"Say, where are we? Why are we just words? Where's the pictures, bro?" Deadpool said.
"I know, I was disappointed too!" I said. Then I used my only super power...
Gwenpool suddenly wielded the key to Deadpool's gauntlets in her hand.
Neat, huh?
"How did you do that?!" Deadpool shouted. "Wait, gimme that key!"
"Here!" I tossed the key to him, and he unlocked himself. Somehow.
"Whoop!" Deadpool cried. "Now where's my little machine gun? AH, here it is!" He picked up a forgotten Gatling gun and started mowing down our enemies.
Suddenly, a huge grotesque figure blocked out the sun. We looked up.

"BAT!!" I shouted. A giant bat had blocked out the sun. Creepy. Of course, now I know it was just a plane, but still... "Gimme a rocket launcher, quick!" Deadpool said. "Right!" I handed him one, and he quickly pointed it straight in the air. BLAM! BLAM! BLAM! Three rockets spiraled through the air. Two missed, but the third hit the bat. "DEE-RECT HIT!" Deadpool shouted. "Not bad, sidekick! But how do we get outta here?" I looked around. More agents were coming, and a few automatic turrets swiveled towards us. "Jump!" I said. "Jump!?" Deadpool asked. "Yes. Jump." I threw down an EMP grenade, which put out all the nearby turrets. And vehicles. So I ran over to the edge of the carrier and leaped. Deadpool followed. Luckily, being a super hero (per say), I am totally capable of surviving from falls that should have smashed me. One splash later, and we were home free. "Come on, lazy bones!" I said, swimming towards shore. Deadpool followed, muttering something about being hungry.
I absolutely love it so far! With my job being to maintain the continuity, I appreciate you continuing Selina's arc but I'm simultaneously cringing since there are now multiple Batmen in one timeline
