Do you have a problem with your mindstorms kit? Do you need help on one of your creation? Well help is here! Just tell me your problem and Ib (or any others) will answer as best we can. Hi! I am interested in doing Mind storms. The sets are too expensive! Where can I get these pieces to build mindstorms with the rest of my Lego bricks? What do you recommend me to start with? So will I be able to get mindstorms bricks but their own? Thanks for your time. Hey Guru! Like Sam said, LEGO Boost works well with traditional LEGO bricks that you might already have and it's a great start if you don't have much programming knowledge. The Mindstorms kits are expensive, but it's able to do more than LEGO Boost since it's an advanced system, however it does require some programming background. Hope this helps!

Gnuehchcaz Can help a bit more than me sometimes though. They still have NXT's available for just that much, or even from a third-party? I thought the cost would've gone way up by now. Happy to help!

You can check on the LEGO Shop website to see the price of LEOG Boost as well as other retailers... The MSRP is $159.99 for LEGO Boost. You also need an Android/iOS/certain Kindle Fire device to use it though... I think it works with Windows 10 as well but that's about it.

So will I be able to get mindstorms bricks but their own? Thanks for your time. I believe the bricks are Technic Bricks used for Mindstorms but the separate parts themselves are also expensive too. For example the EV3 intelligent brick goes for over £200, which in $ is over 250 I think depending on conversion ratios... Like Sam said I would recommend LEGO Boost as it is cheaper, but like I said in my previous post you need an iOS/Android/Kindle Fire or Windows 10 Device running the latest version of the OS to use it... (The latest version is ideal but it might work for certain older devices)

Sam themindgarage Stephanie @animalhelper123 Gnuehchcaz I recently was given the 9748 R2-D2 RCX set, and there is an option on the block called "P". I looked in the instructions, and they said that this option is supposed to be able to work with future Mindstorms sets. Does anyone know anything more about this?

Unfortunately I don't know much about the microcontroller in the R2-D2 set. I did some research and I think there may have been a way to program the robot with another RCX or something. I would guess it's very hard to do at this point in time since it's been nearly 20 years.
