Is it just me, or are the newest Jurassic sets absolutely insane in price, even by Lego standards? Okay so for reference the metric for judging Lego value is that it hovers at an average of 10 (American) cents per piece. We're going to compare Jurassic with some Harry Potter sets, as both are Warner Brothers franchises so they should be licensed similarly. A few examples from Harry Potter, from the past year, with numbers being the average price per piece: Room of Requirement- 8.5 Battle of Hogwarts- 11 Hogwarts express- 12 Triwizard Tournament- 13
These are all licensed, but still reasonably within the range of 10 cents a piece Alright, time for Jurassic this past year. Triceratops Research: 17.8 Pyroraptor transport: 17.7 Brachiosaurus: 15.6 Visitor Center: 18.8 T-Rex breakout: 21.5 Triceratops Ambush: 21.5
I didn't even mention the Lego Juniors Jurassic sets that can go as high as 35 cents per piece. Even licensed sets in that line don't ever go above 16 cents a piece.
These prices are insane. And it sucks because there are some cool sets in there that I just can't justify getting. And it's not an issue of "big dino molds raising the price" because you can look back a few years and find similar sets for far cheaper. In 2019 the highest Jurassic ppp was 13. Throughout the entire history of the Jurassic line it never went higher than 15 ppp, and even that was only for one set a wave. Then in 2020 they all started being priced insanely high.
Sure, it could be general inflation, but I think they're also price-gouging on purpose because they know kids will buy dinosaurs. Alright there you go, my research paper on plastic dinosaurs.
I can't believe I had the same awful signature for nearly 8 years. Sorry for disappearing for 2 months, life happened for a bit.
Dang! Seems like the general opinion is that JW3 was mid! I quite enjoyed it. Very fan servicey, but i dont care because i enjoyed it
As it stands. JW>>>>>>>>JW3>>>JW2
JW2 sucks
Yeah, this topic has been full of JW3 hate, you are introducing a much-needed differing opinion.
I need to rewatch JW2 now that JW3 didn't build off it very well at all...I only thought it was decent because it was a bridge movie but it turned out to be a very shaky bridge.
The thing is, I was genuinely so excited to see where they would go after the ending of Fallen Kingdom, but there's really only one scene in Dominion that delivers on that premise at all (in Malta) and then THE ENDING OF 3 IS EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE ENDING OF 2 BUT WITH DIFFERENT MUSIC!!! Like, basically, 2 ends with a montage of "dinos in the real world" with a doom-and-gloom voiceover and soundtrack, and then 3 ends with a montage of "dinos in the real world" with a "yay the dinos can be naturalised now" soundtrack. Like- broooooo...

Dang, I thought they'd all gone up in general but it's crazy that there's that much of a difference compared to HP. (Tbf, JP is Universal, not WB, but it shouldn't make that big a difference.) I'm honestly kind of impressed that HP has stayed fairly close to 10 cents a piece. I remember when that was virtually a rule you could swear by back in the day. You're right, it's gotta be the dinos. RIP.

What came after Fallen Kingdom could've gone so many different ways. I thought they were going to do more with weaponizing dinosaurs than they did, with all the different countries buying different dinosaurs. Yeah, not much changed for the world between the endings of 2 and 3.

It's insane, Jurassic sets can go up to twice the price of a standard Lego set.

*dons black is already wearing black* I will join you in mourning. I think that's why I didn't like JW3, not because it was terrible but because it could've been sooooo much better.
What do you think the future of the franchise will be? I doubt it will stay at rest forever.

I don't know, I guess now that they've established the "new normal" of dinos at large as a permanent state of affairs, there are really no limits on what they could do. But they'll probably just go with "some rich guy tries to put them back on an island again" or something.

I've got an idea, Jurassic Universe 1, they try to inhabit Mars with dinosaurs.

Heck yeah, let's goooo.
Then we can have another movie where they discover that there's another prehistoric monster like Megalodon or Leviathan or something that's actually still been alive this whole time and the dinos have to battle it and it basically just becomes a kaiju movie.

New trilogy, Jurassic Land. They try the park thing again. It'll totally work this time guys

We've got two movies now, just need a third. We better go ahead and like copyright out ideas before Colin Trevorrow or somebody steals them. Also, can Lowery be the hero?

They kind of have to start the next trilogy doing it again, it's practically tradition.

Oh, of course he's the hero. I thought that was a given.
