He wasn't disgusted with holidays in general, he was disgusted with the Galatians for celebrating the wrong holidays.
And nobody reading the Bible would have thought of Easter if it weren't for the pagan holidays. They mixed all the pagan holidays and made them "Christian". The first Sunday after the first full moon after the Spring Equinox? Ever wondered where that came from? Or the ideas of eggs and rabbits? They are all pagan things that the Church dubbed "Christian".
Paul says in Galatians that we shouldn't observe holidays and seasons and years. That was done in the old covenant, we don't need to observe those things, holidays, the idea that you could keep a day holy (e.g. the Sabbath) is something from the Old Covenant. And (nothing personal here) but Roman Catholics have priests and censors and vestments and all of these things, which were things of the Old Covenant.
Another thing. 2 Timothy 3:16-17. We don't need to add things, Paul says everything we need to know is in the Scriptures.
Actually, those are pagan ideas, but the Church does not celebrate Easter the pagan way, we celebrate Christ's triumph over sin and death, the greatest miracle of all: the Resurrection. People have been saying that 'Easter' should be called 'Resurrection Day' instead, but too many people call it Easter to change it.
Censors and vestments? God commanded us to use vestments in Exodus 28:2: "For your brother Aaron you will make sacred vestments to give dignity and magnificence. You will instruct all the skilled men, whom I have endowed with skill, to make Aaron's vestments for his consecration to my priesthood. These are the vestments which they must make: a pectoral, an ephod, a robe, an embroidered tunic, a turban, and a belt. They must make sacred vestments for your brother Aaron and his sons, for them to be priests in my service. They will use gold and violet material, red-purple and crimson, and finely woven linen." So why don't you have priests that use vestments? God commanded it.
Not everything in the Bible is to be taken literally, the Bible also says to call no man 'teacher', but everyone does that so it must mean something other than the literal interpretation otherwise no one would be called 'teacher'.
If you want to interpret Galatians literally I can't stop you. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 says: "All scripture, inspired of God, is profitable to teach, to reprove, to correct, to instruct in justice," It does not say the Bible contains everything and like I said earlier, there's too much to be contained in the Bible. If you want I can re-post that quote.
Its funny you have no idea why you use emotes because I'm a rational person and I think that if you do something you should know why, especially if its an action/thing you don't like.
Anyone want to write a Star Wars story or series I could contribute concepts/ideas to? Because I'd like to do that, but I have a lot of writing projects I'm working on ATM, and don't wanna do the actual writing.
If not, we can just discuss how incredibly lazy I am.
Let's discuss how lazy you are.
Alrighty. Name a synonym for 'very'. I'm too lazy to look one up myself.
I feel like having an intense Star Wars discussion, anyone up for one?
I'm ALWAYS up for an intense Star Wars discussion.
Bring it on!
Alrighty!
*tries to think of topic*
Do bald alien Jedi Padawans have to wear artificial versions of those dumb braid things? What do you think Phasma looks like? Is she human? Are the Guardians of the Whills full light side, or balanced? If they still exist, does Luke want to end them as well?

I have been considering writing something Star Wars, but I'll probably wait for summer to start.
Alrighty, well, let me know, and I'll dump a ton of ideas on you. Just let me know what the general concept of your story is, and I can get thinking on stuff that would work in it.
Ah. But it still seems is if it makes a lot more sense from the Japanese perspective than the American one.
Interesting... Who does he fight in it? As I said, I literally remember nothing from it, despite having watched it pretty recently. I can read a summary and we can discuss it after you watch!
Pretty much. But it was also meant to show other countries the horrors of nuclear weapons.
He fights Anguirus, a spiky ankylosaurus. It's in black and white, the first color Godzilla movie was the one that followed.
That's fair I suppose.
Ah, yes, that sounds right. So was 'the Fire Monster' they mentioned in the American title supposed to be Anguirus or Gojira?
Ah. I can see why that might have been surprising if all you knew was that it was called something that means the end of the world... I knew it was going to have lots of comedy for a while now, so I wasn't surprised by the light tone.
I also definitely agree on TWS and CW... They were quite dark for MCU films.
Actually, what really confused me about the tone were all these articles I read about the tone. Some say that it'll take the Winter Soldier or Civil War tone while Tom Hiddleston and the other guys say it'll show Thor's funniest side. Then apparently, it won't be serious at all.
Yes, they were quite dark for MCU films, and that's why it's perfect for me imo. I'm not saying that it shouldn't have humor. I enjoy the humor brought by the MCU films, but some of their other films have to be serious (with some humor, of course). However, I have to admit though, the opening of GOTG was really dark (and unexpectedly, quite heartbreaking).
Ah. I think I know what you mean... I don't that they meant that'll be like Winter Soldier in tone, rather that it'll be as different from the first two films as TWS was from TFA, and like TWS, it'll revitalize the character.
Mhm. Dark with still some jokes in it is generally perfect. ESB, for example, is the second darkest SW film, but is also probably the funniest. And I've heard GOTG Vol. 2 was also heartbreaking and funny, as the first one was.
Yeah, I think that it really depends upon what you go into the theatre expecting. It's very different from Godzilla... Kong is, as I said, a fun film. It's terribly memorable, or really amazing, or anything like that, but if you go in looking for a fun way to spend a couple hours with some monster thrills then you'll probably get what you expect. That's generally what I expect from Monster films, so I had fun while I watched it. As for the characters, I can definitely understand where both sides were coming from. Most of the characters were incredibly dull and didn't have very much to them, including the two 'main' characters, played by Hiddleston and Larson. However, there's two or three characters which are VERY interesting (at least to me) and they blow away the characters in Godzilla. Jackson and Reilly definitely have the standout performances.
Ooh, neat. I'll probably get it on DVD as I did with the LEGO Movie. Nerdy references are definitely my type of humor, so I'll probably really like it.
I know I'm not part of this discussion, but you're definitely gonna have a lot of good laughs out of The Lego Batman Movie. If you know a lot about the 1960's Batman, very good because it took me two months to find out that the 1960's theme played in the movie. xD
As for Kong: Skull Island, I only finished the first hour of it. Will watched the second hour probably this weekend. A problem I had was that somebody lately spoiled a certain scene to (not the post-credits scene). x(
I know TONS about the 1960s Batman series! I think I've seen either all the episodes or close to it. I'll probably like it a lot then. Do they reference the comics a lot, too?
Best not to discuss religion in depth on the boards. It's one of the three taboo subjects (along with politics and the Great Pumpkin). I suggest you cut it off now before the mods say something. The Protestant and Catholic interpretations of the Bible are extremely different in spots so youll never end up agreeing on this.
There is nothing wrong with arguing about religion. It's the most important thing in life, so I don't see what's wrong with it. And we are not getting personal. It is calm and under control, a simple discussion.
That's fair, and I generally don't think there's anything wrong with it myself, but the mods on the old LMBs didn't like it happening, so I was mostly concerned over the mods locking the topic, or something of the like.
Maybe... But more so that I think she's the Chosen One, not Anakin. I don't think bringing balance to the Force means destroying the Sith, or bringing it down to the same numbers of Jedi and Sith, as some have guessed. I think it means restoring the Jedi to their roots, or starting a new order based on a more balanced interpretation of the Force, and I think Rey will do this. It's even hinted at in the trailer. "Light... Darkness... A balance."
I always thought Luke was the Chosen One. Rey is a great character, but I don't want any of the other characters to lose their high standing. She isn't at the top.
I'd be in agreement with that... I think Rey will end up being the Chosen One, but I'd prefer it be Luke or Anakin. Though the trailer 'hint', if it indeed is one, could point to Luke as well.

I am considering writing a book on Bazine Netal. She is a cool, interesting character, and I would love to do it!
Ooooh. That'd be really cool. You could do all sorts of Underworld stuff in it. I'll read up on her really quick and get back to you if you want a random string of ideas. Any development on the plot at all, or just know that she's the character you want?
I feel like having an intense Star Wars discussion, anyone up for one?
Meh, sure! What do you want to discuss? Rey's Identity Finn's Identity Snoke's Identity Will Han Solo Come Back?
All of them!
Skywalker. I don't want it to happen, but I'd be surprised if it weren't the case. The one theory I really like about her identity is the Rey Palpatine one. It'd be interesting to me.
No one... I don't think we'll find out he's related to anyone of importance. I really think that all we'll get about his backstory is what they said in TFA.
I would really, really like it if he was Plagueis, but I think he's just someone new.
No, please no. He really shouldn't, as much as I would've liked one last seen with Leia, Luke and Han together.
I saw that movie on Friday. It was a very good movie. But what do you mean you won't recover from watching it?
Yup, a very good movie indeed. What I meant was that (slight spoiler hints incoming) I'll never get over what happened at the ending. It's so heartbreaking and perfectly shot. And the shot where the cross is rotated to form an "X".
Definitely a sad ending. But the X was amazing.
Ignore everything I say, to the best of your ability.
Ah. Does that help, or just trying to get away from people? What do you mean? Like 'da da da dum dum da da la la la da laaaaa'?
I think if does, but when I'm super sad its usually someone else who is causing it so whenever that person is around I just disappear. I'm really good at stealth so that helps.
I mean chord notes. This is one of my favorite parts
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Something like that, I can't get the spacing exactly right on here though.
Ah. That's smart. I'm socially awkward and semi-anti-social at times so I hang out by myself a lot as well, anyway.
I have no idea how to read that, so it really doesn't mean much to me.
