Good. That means we can have a nice discussion about Peanuts, and I can quiz you later. Who's your favorite character?
Ooh I like quizzes! Snoopy is the best!
Good. Here's a super-hardcore Peanuts quiz.
1. On what day was the first Peanuts strip published? 2. Who were the first 6 Peanuts characters? 3. What was the name of the panel Schulz drew before he did Peanuts? 4. True or False: Schulz really didn't like the name Peanuts for his strip. 5. How many years did Peanuts go for? 6. In a series of strips, Lucy, the nasty sister she was, buried Linus' blanket. How did Linus manage to get it back? 7. True or False: The Little Red Haired Girl had a name in certain television specials. 8. True or False: Snoopy can fly. 9. Woodstock is a lousy flyer. Why? 10. Name three objects the Cat Next Door used to destroy Snoopy's Dog-House when the Beagle started taunting him. (Snoopy ALWAYS started the fights.)
I haven't decided who my favorite is, TBH. I like so many!
{POSSIBLE LAST JEDI SPOILERS -click to show-} It was disappointing. Now that I've had a week to think about it (sorry I took so long to reply ), I've decided it's not a bad movie.
It just . . . didn't feel like a sequel to The Force Awakens.
TFA started the stories of four great new characters, got me excited to see where they would go - and in The Last Jedi, they didn't really go anywhere.
Rey got no formal training on Acht-To and somehow one-upped herself from TFA; Kylo's still conflicted with no clear reason why; Poe never stops to think about all the lives he put in danger at the beginning, never has to face punishment for his mutinous actions, never learns anything; and Finn got put on a Zelda-style side quest that developed Rose's character more than his.
Worst of all, Rey, Finn, and Poe barely got any screen time with each other. In TFA their interactions and relationships felt fresh and charming; in TLJ, they were separated for most of the movie, placed in situations that either felt stale or wasted their potential. And by the time they did get back together at the end, it was too little too late for me.
Another problem I had was the humor. A lot of dramatic moments were thrown out the window for the sake of a cheap laugh. This wasn't supposed to be a parody or comedy (I think?), so most of the jokes left a bad taste in my mouth.
There's more that I liked (thankfully ) and disliked, but the things above are what I feel most strongly about.
I'd like to hear your (probably different) opinion, too. What did you think of TLJ?
Oh boy, let's see if I can remember. *Pulls up IMDb list anyway*
All of Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, Jurassic Park, A Series of Unfortunate Events, Eragon, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Guardians of Ga'Hoole, The Adventures of Tintin, Where the Wild Things Are, Fantastic Mr. Fox, The Invention of Hugo Cabret, Percy Jackson, The Chronicles of Narnia, Coraline, The Neverending Story, How To Train Your Dragon, and The Hobbit.
There're a few more, but I'm not sure how strict the rules are about mentioning non-LEGO-owned PG-13 properties, and I think the above is plenty to start with . . .
And yours?
I happen to enjoy many of those. However, I am curious as to why you listed The Hobbit and never mentioned LotR. Anyway, same franchise.
(Don't mean to intrude on this conversation, but I love this kind of thing and I'm totally joining this chatroom.)
