OOC: Wouldn't he have 9 fingers? No. Thankfully, Gondor has no shortage of good mahogany. There's also this nice oak desk in my war room, you should come over and try it sometime.
OOC: He would. But only four on the Black Hand. Ah, how nice of you. I'll come tomorrow. I must return the favour and invite your entire court to a party in Orodruin. It would be such a shame if a treacherous Gondorian attacked the party guests, and the resulting struggle resulted in everyone falling into the Cracks of Doom.
OOC: Except he was trapped in the form of a giant eyeball during the Third Age. Eyeballs don't have hands. I think Gollum was talking about Sauron's reach rather than his actual hand. To quote - *sigh* - the LOTR Wikia (Tolkien Gateway doesn't have an article! ), "The Black Hand was what Gollum referred to as the hand of Sauron which had once bore the One Ring. It also represented Sauron's evil influence just as it did for his fallen master Morgoth."
It would also be a shame if an Uruk saw a mithril shirt and punched his buddy, leading to an Orcish civil war in the White City.

OOC: That was Peter Jackson taking Tolkien literally.
Especially if the rogue Orcs crashed into the gate and brought it crashing down.
OOC: Shamrock , what siege engines do you have here? Also, how much longer until the sun rises?
IC: A noble blast from a trumpet rings out, and it is answered with a mighty shout from the host of Gondor. They begin marching through the city towards enemy lines.
The Guards of Osgiliath go first, with the Axemen of Lossarnach behind. After them march the Harvagor Soldiers, followed by two squares of 500 Pikemen. Behind them march 2,000 Gondorian Archers, with a separate rank of Heavy Crossbowmen. There are Scorpions spread evenly throughout their ranks as well.
150 of the Harvagor Soldiers are carrying wooden barricades. Each one is 20 feet long (6 meters) and 7 feet tall (2.13 meters), enough for several dozen men to hide behind. The front of each barricade features 20 wooden stakes 5 feet in length (1.5 meters) that end in a razor-sharp point.
There are 15 such barricades.
OOC: On the Western side, 10 Trebuchet and 10 Onagers. On the Eastern side, 10 Trebuchet and 250 unidentified TWE.
Also, I believe you need to build those barricades, rather than just saying they exist.

OOC: OK.
Fine. They are a variation of the Mantlet I submitted yesterday, and they have a total cost of 3 MWE. (The Mantlets are .2 MWE because they could be replaced by shields, barricades, or natural cover.)
IC: In response to the arrival of the second Gondorian Host, the Orc Swordsmen intensify their labour, and the wall of rubble rises. In addition to the ring, they start creating lower, weaker walls of rubble, that, when complete, forces enemy troops to either ditch heavy weapons and armour, go a significant distance north of south, away from the ring, or pass through directly in front of it.
While this is happening, the Orc Archers are pulled back within the ring. Caltrops are scattered over the ground to focus enemies even more, and Orc Halberdiers take up a position in front of the ring.
OOC: Since I probably describe that badly, here's a map:
WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW C C C C C C C R R C C R R C C R SSS R C C R AAAA R C C C C C C C R OOOOOOOOOOO R C C C C C C C C R RRRRRRRRRRRRRRR C C C C C HHHHHHHHHHHHHH C C C C C C C C C C C C C
It's rather rough (the gaps in the caltrops other than main one aren' there ) but it shows where everything is.
W = Water C = Caltrops R = Ring of rubble S = Siege engines A = Orc Archers O = Orc Swordsmen H = Orc Halberdiers B = Barrier of rubble
Essentially, it's set up so that heavy troops can only come in directly at the Halberdiers, unless they ditch heavy weapons and armour in order to climb the barrier and slip through the caltrops.

As they hurry their labor, projectiles from the Gondorian trebuchets smash into the area around them, crushing both the barrier and the Orcs. This attack greatly demoralizes the workers.

While this is somewhat effective, the projectiles add to the barrier, increasing its effectiveness. The Orcs are indeed scared, but fear of Galadron's wroth keeps them going.

OOC: I think 50 boulders smashing into barricade and workers alike is going to inflict more damage and confusion than you seem to allow for.

The barrage continues as the Gondorians advance. They time their movements so as to avoid trebuchet shots.

OOC: It's a heap of rubble piled in a wall shape. Granted, the boulder would shift some pieces, but it would replace them.
IC: As the barrier is now of reasonable strength, and the boulders are smashing too many orcs to make it worth continuing, all Orc Swordsmen are pulled back into the ring.

The trebuchets and onagers soon fall into rhythym, firing just after the movements. They aim for the barricades.
Alright, have we reached a general consensus on the amount of the city that has been levelled? I'd like to know what decision we made before continuing combat.
