The Adventure of the Yellow Castle
By Bobbywan
“I’m neither antisocial, nor unsociable, just perhaps somewhat unsocial. And I freely admit I’m probably a little bit insane” That was how Bobbywan described himself, one sunny afternoon, to a few
friends from the Lego Message Boards eternal. To be fair, he was a bit harsh on himself even with the term unsocial, it wasn’t that he tried to not have friends, or even that he didn’t try to have friends, just
that he hadn’t found many people to be friends with. “Yes, but you can’t make friends unless you put yourself out there.”, Kikkat said. “Just start talking to people,” Goatman suggested “It’s the only way to
get to know them. And are you sure you’re only a little bit insane?”. “Not entirely”, Bobbywan said. “And I know I need to try more, but it’s discouraging, looking at the way people act in this
world. 8Legos knows what I mean.” “Yes,” 8Legos said “II do. As Bobywan says, people can be scary.” “Well, of course you would both agree,” Kitkat said, “You’re both introverts.” “Maybe,” Bobbywan said.
“There’s a difference though. 8Legos doesn’t want to talk to people. I do, you know I love talking, and I talk to much around people I know, but I’ve learned that far too few people care about things that
really matter. “That’s why we’re here.” Goatman said, “To be the Heroes.” “Here to save the world. Show people the truth.” Bobbywan confirmed. “When we get a chance. Kikat said. “We will. Something
crazy will happen.” Goatman said.” “Likely.”, Kikat said. They fell silent for a while, and continued their walk. The sun was shining through the clouds, scattering light across the landscape. It glistened off the
golden and green fields, divided by hedges and stone walls, laid out around them like a great patchwork quilt. The trees shone darkling, a stream blazed like flowing diamonds, and away in the distance the
Morcian Mountains
gleamed. Farmers were plowing their fields, or herding animals. A few wagons rolled along the roads. Above them, at the summit of the hill they were ascending, was the Yellow Castle. The great bricks of
which it was built, carved from a curious stone, gave it a vibrant yellow hue, that now seemed almost golden in the sunlight. Many flags flew above it, emblazoned with Lions and crowns, and many colors.
It was not as large or detailed as some fortress, and it was now partially in ruins, yet even so, it’s elegance and simplicity gave it a majesty of its own. “I thought there would be more people here.”
Goatman remarked. “It’s not tourist season. People are too busy.” Kitkat said. “Which was the whole plan,” 8legos said “To come here when it wasn’t crowded. Didn’t you listen?” “I was probably busy.”
Goatman shrugged. “Hmm. Peculiar.” Bobbywan said. “What?” Kitkat said, turning towards him. “My family is usually telling me that I have trouble listening. Personally, I think sometimes they don’t tell me
clearly enough. Other times they’re probably right.” Kitkat snorted and shook his head. The four of them knew each other from the Lego Message Boards, on the coast near Lego City. The boards had
recently been demolished, despite the Users protests to save their much beloved boards, to make way for forum called “Lego Life”, which had none of the character and beauty of the LMBs. Fortunately, a
small group of users had founded a new Message Boards, the Lego Message boards Eternal, just across Godtfred Bay, and many users and fled there. Even so, many users will still depressed and shaken
from their loss. In order to take their minds off their sadness, Bobbywan, Kitkat, 8Legos, and Goatman had decided to take a trip somewhere, and think about something else for a change. Which was how
they found themselves in the heart of the realm of Lego Castle, climbing the steep, rocky slopes of classic hill, up to the summit. At last they reached the top, and the yellow gatehouse rose above them,
and behind it the crumbling remains of the three great towers. Before was a deep ditch, once crossed by a brilliant red drawbridge, now bridged by a permanent bridge of stone. To guards protected it, on
their left was one of King Leo’s Knights, and on their right one of the Crown knights of the Western Kingdom (Which had always struck Bobbywan as an rather unspecific name). They moved forward and
crossed their spears, barring progress. “Who are you, and what is your purpose here?” they challenged. “We are travelers from the Lego Message Boards eternal.” Bobbywan answered. “Our names are
Bobbywan, Kitkat, Goatman, and 8Legos. We have come to see this great castle.” The guards nodded and stepped back. “Then you are most welcome.” They said. “You may pay the price of admission on the
left just past the gate.” “Thank you.” Bobbywan said, as they walked over the bridge, and under the gate. They looked up and saw the rusty remains of the drawbridge, poking out from the yellow ivy
Wow! I just read it on my phone, and its great! I love the preloge that you added in about you being 'antisocal' I feel the same way irl as you do in the the story, I even have a good friend who doesn't talk. And the part where I ask Goatman if he listens, that was just pure gold! I say that (In my head) all the time. Keep it up and I can't wait to see what happens next! MOARRR!!!!

They paid their admission at a booth set up just inside the gate, on the left side, and then proceeded into the castle, emerging out into the great sunlit courtyard. Around them the yellow walls rose in a great square, and the three towers rearing up above, two on each side and the third and greatest directly across from the gate. The courtyard, once paved, covered with gravel and busy, was now relatively
quiet and peaceful, and covered with grass and old and partly broken paving stones, though some were evidently far more recent, added to ease the movement of tourists. The broken outlines of the
buildings, the great hall, the apartments, and the kitchens and barracks could still be seen. Several trees were now growing here and there. Up on the walls
guards patrolled, decked out in the heraldry of the various kingdoms. Tourists milled around, some in groups being led by tour guides, others off alone or in small groups. The tourists, though not very
numerous, were quite a varied group; there were people from Castle, Lego City Citizens, a few Pirates, some explorers, some people from Ninjago city, and even a couple of Futuron employees. “So, shall,
we join a tour group?” Goatman. “I don’t think so,” Bobbywan said, as they walked into the middle of the courtyard, “I think weneed to know everything we need to.” He paused when they reached the
middle of the courtyard, and began; “So,” he said, turning around with his arms outstretched, “this is the great Yellow Castle, built by the Ancient Knights of old-“ “That was redundant.” Kitkat brokein. “Not
if by ‘of old’ I was referring to the building of the castle. But you’re right, it was odd. Let me rephrase- “This is the great Yellow Castle, built of old by the Ancient Knights of Classic, about whom we know
little. Over the years many tales have been told of this castle; myths, legends, faery tales, heroic and epic and scandalous. It has been the sight of conflict, as many people have sought to control it, both
for its strategy position and its own legendary status. The Black Knights, the Black Falcons, and the Crusaders strove for mastery of this castle, the Forestmen and the Wolfpack have used it as a hideout,
and of course, in the great Battle of the Yellow Castle, the Royal Knights, the Dragon Masters and the Fright Knights fought for its control. Then for some years it lay vacant, until it was discovered that
Cedric the Bull had made it his new base. The Forces of King Leo, Morcia, and the Western Kingdom joined together to drive them out, and then declared this a place of shared history and culture of all the
castle themes, and they and the Red and Blue Lion knights have pledged to defend it. And thank you for letting me say all that, as I think you all knew most of it already.” “Largely because you already told
us.” Kitkat said. “Fair enough.” Bobbywan said. “Not that it isn’t fascinating though.” Kitkat said. “Indeed.” 8Legos agreed. “Some places like these, you can almost smell the history.” “Maybe we’ll find some
of the hidden treasures that have been hidden here.” Goatman said “Also redundant.” Kitkat said. “For instance,” Goatman continued “It’s said that the Crusaders hid an object of mysterious power in the
hidden catacombs under the castle. But no one has been able to find it. It says so right here in the Brochure.” “You shouldn’t believe everything you read.” 8Legos said. “Just some of it.” Bobbywan said.
“Now, where shall we go first?” “The main tower.” Kitkat said. “It has the best views, and it is the sight of Majisto and Willa the Witch’s alleged mighty duel.” “They say you can still see the scorch marks
unleashed by their terrifying sorcerous power.” 8Legos said. “Then we look at the catacombs.” Goatman said. “Sure.” Bobbywan said. “Now, shall be begin?”

Great chapter! Keep it up! I can't wait to see if they find anything in the castle!
The scorch marks were, indeed, visible. Indeed, they were scored into the surface of the rocks themselves. After taking in the splendid view from the top tower for a while, they went back down and began
really exploring the castle, walking around the walls, climbing up onto the parapets and into the towers, and finding objects of historical interest. Here, an exhibit of various weapons and tools left behind by
the Forestmen and the Wolfpack, there, a wall hung with weapons of all sorts dropped during battle, over there, the spot where the Royal King and Basil the Bat Lord fought their duel. At long last, however,
they found themselves at one of the entrances to the catacombs. The wide, gaping arch was under one of the two side towers. An identical door was across the courtyard, behind them. The heavy iron
bound wooden door resting against the wall on half-broken hinges. A flight of steps led down to a dimly lit tunnel, lit by flickering torches, that quickly ran out of their sight. A nearly identi “You realize, of
course”, kitkat said, “That since this place has been poured over by outlaws, knights, amateur treasure hunters, archaeologists, and professional historians for years, the odds of us finding anything are
extremely low.” “Maybe,” Goatman said. “But we have an advantage.” “Which is?” 8Legos asked. “We’re crazier.” “Fair enough.” 8Legos said. They walked down the steps and into the hall, and as they moved
the torches cast strange and eerie shadows. They past various opening, leading to storage rooms, and they walked down a side tunnel to look at the dungeons, see the iron bars, shackles, and various
painful objects, before heading back to the main passage. “You know,” Bobbywan said as they made a turn and head down a long passageway without doors, “Catacombs usually aren’t as thrilling as fiction
may make them. They’re usually just used as store rooms, or cells, or graves, or just a fast way to get places. Spooky or depressing, sometimes, but not exactly action packed or even mysterious.” They
walked a short way in silence then, listening to their footsteps echoing down the hall, and then Bobbywan came to an abrupt hall. The others stopped and turned back to look at him. “Except…” he said, an
odd look on his face. “What?” Goatman said. Bobbywan turned, and looked around the tunnel, a look of keen interest and pensive thought suddenly on his face. “Except, why are these catacombs here in the
first place? This is not at all typical of castles, no matter what stories say. Since we’re on a stone hill I could understand tunneling down a bit for extra space, for an entire system of catacombs? Unless of
course” “They were hiding something worth hiding.” 8Legos said. “And since no one has found it,” Kitkat said, himself turning and scrutinizing the hall, “There may in fact be something down here.” “So, in
other words, you’re saying I was right?” Goatman said. “I never denied it.” Bobbywan said. “I just said that you shouldn’t believe everything you read, a statement I stand by.” 8Legos said. “I just said the
odds were extremely low. Which may be the case.” Kitkat said. Goatman just looked at them for a moment. “So, basically, yes?” he said. “Well,” Kitkat said, “Yes, you were right."
If I could facepalm right now, I would. I realized that maybe I shouldn't have thrown in that reference to Ninjago, but rather should have made Ninjago one of the worlds they visit.
But, wait, no, I din't say that Ninjago City was on the same planet. They could be from off world, like the Futuron employees.
Good. I was afraid that I was three posts in and I would already have to start retconning.

“Fascinating.” Bobbywan said. Then he smiled, his adventurous, mirth-filed, slightly sarcastic, dangerous smile. “Well, we’e not incredibly likely to find anything, since we don’t have any clues or hints, but
even so-Let’s go on an adventure.” He turned and walked on down the hallway, humming “Far over, the misty Mountains cold…” “Why not?” Kitkat said. 8Legos shrugged. “I’m up for a few thrills.” Goatman
said. They turned and followed.
They spent a quite while wandering through the catacombs, which, while extensive, were not never-ending. They looked over the floors, walls, and ceilings, and paid special attention to the lowest and most
central room, whose purpose, according to Goatman’s brochure, was still unknown. Bobbywan spent a few minutes examining a crest on the wall, pushing various sections of it, looking for various levers.
Then they worked their way through the chambers towards the other entrance. In the end, unfortunately, they found nothing.
“……to win our gold and harps from him.” 8Legos hummed as they walked down the last hallway towards the exit. “Well, that was sad.” He said. “Yes,” Kitkat said. “but if there is something hidden here you
probably need special knowledge to access it. We don’t even have that.” “Even Indiana Jones had to have medallions, maps, hints and clues.” Goatman said. “Exactly, said Kitkat. “So, in the end, it wasn’t
unexpected.” “Maybe that’s the problem,” Bobbywan said as he approached the steps up, in the lead “We don’t expect extraordinary things to happen, so they either don’t,” he continued as he bounded up
the
steps two or three at a time and out the door into the sunlight , and turned around towards them as they too walked out into the courtyard. “Or if they do, we’re-“ His face was suddenly filled with horror.
“Back! Run!!!!’ he
shouted. 8Legos was opening his mouth to ask why, when suddenly someone grabbed his shoulder from behind and violently yanked him backwards, and something cold and sharp was held against his neck.
He glanced over and saw Kitkat and Goatman, with men dressed in shabby peasants‘ garb standing behind them, holding knives to their throats. A fourth fellow, this one dressed in the uniform of a Futuron
Employee, had a blaster trained on Bobbywan, who was now standing with his hands held up into the air. “….caught unprepared.” He finished, tiredly.
Absolutely magnificent (Pun not originally intended)! Wonderful story so far! Some of the dialogue seems a bit choppy, but I think I actually like that. It adds character. FYI, though, I'm actually an introvert too (even if a somewhat more social one among certain people) (and I would also consider myself to have a healthy amount of insanity). Oh, and normally when I say that something is redundant, I say that it is both repetitive and redundant, just to further the point (not that that really fit either time you used the term). Otherwise, spot on with me! It was more of my moody/nonchalant side, but accurate nonetheless. Keep up the good work!

Thank you! I'm going to try to keep improving it as I go. *scribbles notes: make Kitkat more somewhat more introverted and crazy. :tounge: *
I think that being introverted and and healthily insane will be recurring themes in this story. :tounge:

And I won't be stopping you. Just be sure to keep the character of the story (and that may include some of the imperfect aspects ). Don't lose my argumentativeness over technical details, though! Or my extensive reason.

I agree it is magnificent! And spot on for my personalty. If we really got together and went on an Adventure I think it would be just like the story.

Quite likely. Gosh, I actually do sound like me in the story.
"Now," The Futuron Employee, who was, Bobbywan now observed, missing his left eye,and a rather rough looking person in general, said, "Don't do anything stupid or heroic. Do what we say, not what we don't, and you'll live. You three, up with him. Kitkat, 8Legos, and Goatman gingerly stepped away from their captors and walked over to Bobbywan. ”Now, just turn around and walk where I tell
you too." "Okay then." Bobbywan said. He glanced at the others. 8Legos raised his hands slightly, Goatman shrugged, Kitkat shook his head. Evidently none of them had any ideas at the moment either.
Bobbywan slowly turnd around and began walking. "You are aware, of course, he” said, his eyes flicking around the castle, confirming his worst fears: it wasn't just them, but various people, still in civilian
gear, but now armed, were standing atop the walls, a few, with crossbows, covering the entire courtyard with crossbows, and in the center of the square others had the guards and other, presumably
genuine, civilians captive, on their knees with their arms behind their heads. "That this is all quite illegal?" he continued, "And also, I presume, that having that laser pistol here without express the
permission of the Castle Council is a flagrant violation of the Great Treaty of the Themes?" "Be quiet!" The one-eyed faux spaceman said. “just shut your mouth! Join the others over there.” Bobbywan cast
his eyes over to Kitkat, who mouthed the word “wait.” “For what?” 8Legosmouthed. “A time for insanity.” Kitkat silently replied. “Hope” Goatman mouthed, nodding his head slightly. The other’s followed his
gaze, and saw that he was looking at one of the knights(who unlike the Civilians, had their hands bound) kneeling on the ground, specifically one in the lead. His helmet was off, and his head was bloodied,
but his eyes were still defiant. Bobbywan did not fully recognize him by sight, but he knew who it had to be: Sir John of Mayne, one of the finest knights of King Leo’s Kingdom, second in renown only to
Richard the Strong, rumored to be enamored with the Valiant Princess Storm, and to have taught her the skills of a knight. They had known Sir John was currently head of the garrison here, and Bobbywan
had hoped to meet. On the one hand, he was not exactly thrilled with the circumstances, but on the other hand he highly doubted that Sir John would just sit by and let this happen. As they approached Sir
John glanced up and them, and his eyes went past them to their captor. A look of contempt filled his face, “What exactly do you expect to get out of all this, Gilbert?” he said. Bobbywan, without really
meaning to, looked back over his shoulder at their one-eyed captor. Fortunately, he didn’t seem to notice, but glared at Sir John with instense Malice. Gilbert? The Gilbert? Gilbert the Bad?(A rather
unimaginative epithet). Gilbert, chief henchman to-oh, swell. Well, actually, it could be worse. “You know what we’re after,” Gilbert growled, and strode quickly forward and struck Sir John across the face,
while keeping his blaster pointed at the four captees. “Now be quiet! The only reason you’re still able to speak, is because the boss wants to attend to you himself.”
