Located at a ford on the river Gwathlo, Tharbad was constructed by Numenoreans during the 2nd Age. While important for a time, it eventually fell into disrepair, but quickly became important again following the founding of Gondor and Arnor. Located on the Great Road between the two kingdoms, Tharbad also served as a port, and was thus constantly manned by soldiers, mariners, and engineers. As the influence of the Edain waned, however, Tharbad gradually declined in population and prosperity. While it long remained settled, it finally became deserted following the Great Flood in 2912 T.A.
In the RP, Tharbad is one of the few crossing points along the Gwathlo and its subsidiaries. Minhiriath lies to the north and west, while Enedhwaith lies to the south and east. While there was a bridge, it had long ceased to be usable (tho it could be fixed); thus, the river can only be crossed via the ford here. I'm...really not sure how much MWE this place provides. I'll check with the others on this one, and post it below. Enjoy!
The day of prosperity makes one forget adversity; The day of adversity makes one forget prosperity.
A fleet of corsair ships enter on the river greyflood, and transports for Corsairs sail behind.
OOC: Please detail the exact defenses and the amount and type of troops here.
OOC: Let's see, I think there is 500 MWE here and 200 TWE. As for defenses, hmmm, I think Tharbad is fully walled and the bridge is repaired. Presumably there is also some sort of gate facing the sea to defend against ships that has also been repaired, since I doubt they would leave it open to any old ship.
IC: *The Mangonels are put just behind the walls close to the river. The Scorpions are spread throughout the city, mostly near the walls* *The troops position themselves behind the walls, with some at the gates and some near the enemy facing wall*
