"The Phoenix... they attacked my home. Burnt everything down... Attacked me..."
"The Phoenix... they attacked my home. Burnt everything down... Attacked me..."
Lion guard #1: "The Phoenix burned the the Eagle Spire?! What has happened to the political climate?? Er, no pun intended."
Lion guard #2: "Do you know if they were sent by the Empress, or if they were a rogue group?"
The medic treats Emmet's wounds.
"Yeah... uhh, I don't know who they were sent by, and I'm not sure, but I think the emperor of the Phoenix was the leader of the army, but I can't be certain... He asked about who the Eagle king is, and he attacked me, and I tried to fight back, but he was just..."

Lion guard #2: "An... Emperor? If he was a pretender to the throne, he surely wouldn't have amassed such a large force to fight for him. So in addition to the Empress, the Phoenix have a leader we didn't know about... one who didn't attend the Tribal Summit. Jeez... was his aim to completely destroy the Eagles? Are we dealing with another Rawlin here?"
Lion guard #1: "Well in any case, the Phoenix have shown their true colors. The Fire Tribes acted like some kind of divine protectors when they awakened, but it looks to me like the Phoenix, at least, are just as dubious as the Ice Hunters."
Lion guard #3: "Yeah, well, speaking of dubious, what about the Eagle King? Even if he did use excessive force, I can't really blame that Phoenix Emperor for not trusting "Erdrik". The guy came out of nowhere, claimed that the Erdrik who passed away was a trusted friend taking his place, and snatched up control of the Eagle Tribe. Not to mention his way too young-sounding voice, the explanation of which sounded like an excuse."

Lion guard #2: "I'm sorry, son."
Lion guard #3: "Hm, yeah, his target was probably "Erdrik", who was on his way back from the Tribal Summit."
Lycan: "This is certainly a completely unexpected turn of events."
The Lion Regent walks up to the scene.
Lycan: "Not to mention, Lycor has disappeared on us once again. A bit of a loose cannon, that one is."
Lycan to Emmet: "I'm sure Eagle Spire isn't completely destroyed; it's endured much worse. However, as a show of good faith, you can stay in Lion City for now if you don't feel comfortable going back to Eagle Spire."

The injured eagle is given a hotel room free of charge, as Lycan goes to call his sister for a meeting.
Lycor returns to Lion City on foot, and, after walking up the stairs and across the bridge, is met by Lycan at the gate to the Temple. The Lion Regent politely greets the Field Marshal, and then swiftly gets to business.
Lycan: “I must ask where you were, nephew. You’re a vital asset to the Lion Tribe.”
Lycor explains what happened in the time he was away, telling Lycan about [thing that will be revealed in The Last Reincarnations].
Lycan: “That is most disturbing. I think we should keep this between us for now.”
Lycor: “What? Why?”
Lycan: “The knowledge could prove useful, although your Imperial friends will probably announce this news to the populace anyway. Ah, well.”
Soon after Lycor returned to the city, his mother arrives as well, meeting with Lycan in private.
Lyn: “What’s this about Lycan, trying to start another war with a fellow tribe of Chima, while we face threats like the Elemental imbalance and the foreign invaders?!”
Lycan: “These ‘foreign invaders’ you speak of have not actually attacked us at all. In fact, it seems that the young man impersonating King Erdrik is trying to convince us to attack them, through fear tactics.”
Lyn: “Isn’t that what you’re doing with the Forgotten?”
Lycan: “The Forgotten aren’t a tribe, sister. They’re a militia of criminals from various tribes, with a dangerously inconsistent ideology, constantly spying on every tribe around them. They have refused alliances with any tribe, as we saw at the Tribal Summit, unless the leader of that tribe is a member of the Forgotten, and the only reason Rica is leading the Ravens again is because she overthrew Radnar with the help of my son.”
Lyn: “I understand your reasoning, but this is the worst time to start a war. Like I said, with the Elemental imbalance slowly eating away at the world—”
Lycan: “The search for the Fire Wing Harnesses is a... complex and delicate matter. Ask Lycor about it later. He’ll explain. Anyhow, I’m the one who should be upset at you, Lyn. Stopping a battle from starting between the Forgotten and us in the Croc Swamp put a massive dent in my plans to declare war on the Forgotten.”
Lyn: “You we’re going to use that as an excuse to start a war?”
Lycan: “Not as an excuse, as a legitimate reason, in addition to Freeman’s liberation of our prisoner, Scorm.”
Lyn: “Why did you capture him in the first place?”
Lycan: “As I already explained, to learn how he became immortal, and thus create an immortal Lion King to fix our problem of constantly disappearing kings. But when it became clear that Scorm himself had no idea how he became that way, I figured I could still get use out of him, by allowing Freeman to break him out; such a crime would give me a valid reason in the eyes of the populace to declare war on them.”
Lyn: “Such a manipulative—”
Lycan: “Yet justified plan. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve another matter to attend to.”
The Lion Air Force and Lion Fleet leave the city, with Supreme Regent Lycan and Field Marshal Lycor leading the charge. Chief Advisors Lyn and Leon manage the HQ in the meantime.
