But the question is: Hardback or Paperback? Or is E-book better?
I would say hardback because paperback covers are sooooooooooooooooo annoying, they just don't stay shut!!!!! They are, on the other hand, less expensive, so really I guess it's a financial question, which of course we don't have to discuss here.
That is true. There is always the E-book option though. (Like reading the book on a Kindle/iPad for example)

True, that can work and is arguably more convenient, but I prefer the real deal.

What are everybody's thoughts on the Great Hall set?
I personally love it! Since I won't have the money to afford the D2C Hogwarts or the other main sets, I look forward to being able to get this set and the CMFs and expand from there to create a Hogwarts MOD!
While I don't really care about most of the figs, I absolutely adore the new Dumbledore and Quirrel! Susan Bones is a great figure to get as well, because we now have a Hufflepuff torso! I'm sure we can expect Cho in the CMF series or Hogwarts D2C to get a Ravenclaw torso! (We could see Luna, but these sets seem to focus on years 1-3).
The hall itself, while cramped, is a decent size and seems to include all the necessary elements! I like it, although the main doors didn't lead directly outside in the book or movie. The tower is much less impressive, although it does include some cool areas.
If the set is meant to combine with the D2C Hogwarts, then I have a few concerns. Firstly, based on its placement, the tower is likely meant to represent the huge tower near the Great Hall (whose name alludes me). That's a mediocre representation of it, so hopefully it's really a different tower. I hope the inclusion of the Basilisk and Mirror of Erised doesn't mean we won't get the Chamber of Secrets or the chambers guarding the Sorcerer's Stone in the D2C Hogwarts, although I wouldn't really care if those weren't included,
