Um, 'either' isn't very helpful in battle terms
IC: Upon seeing the enemy charge towards the Dale men, the dwarves and militia charge towards the archers
Arrows fly from inside the forest into the archers. Some are fired by hobbit archers and some by Dunedain snipers. The archers are spread out and take cover after firing behind trees
4 mammoths charge into the archers and testudo from each side, swinging their tusks madly to shatter the formation. (If the testudo is attacking the Dalesmen they just attack the archers) They are closely followed by 20 Dunedain Commandos and 100 militia on each side, who use the mammoths to provide cover from the archers before mopping up the shattered and shaken troops after the mammoth's rampage through them
*Your cavalry charging towards Bree run into a second Bree force moving to reinforce the first. They take up a defensive formation, with Dwarven Spearmen and Guardsmen forming a spiky wall in front of Hobbit archers. There is a small number of Dunedain on the flanks with the archers, while 10 mammoths wait slightly behind the archers. There are several scorpions sitting just behind the archers*
*Unbeknownst to the forces of evil, several siege weapons are hauled through the North Downs in a wide loop to join up with the Dalesmen*

OOC: for you first thing, I don't believe they're useless. Archers fire at whatever is closest, all melee units spread out at random to make themselves not as big of a target for the mammoths, and the others are not really "useless" As for the Either, that is made irrevelant by my second move, and even then it was that the units with large shields were in the shield wall, others were charging.
