What does that mean for MarioMan's troops? and for that matter, can we get on with the fight.
Hello, I'm back.
I don't have enough forces to blockade the whole border with the LL after engaging you, so he can probably slip through I think.
As for the battle, I won't have time to get a troop assignment done today. I have however figured out that the Bree froces that came from Evendim number around 2150 MWE and 900 TWE plus the 1500 already here

IC: *From the shadows and using their immense knowledge of the region some Dunedain snipers take a precise shot at your elite troops (I need a troop list before I can say what they do this to) before slipping away again. They repeat this for a good portion of your travel. They also do not all appear (In fact, your troops mostly never see them) at the same time, instead firing when they are ready and being immensely careful not to get caught*
*As your troops march along a path through a wooded part of their journey (For maximum speed through the forest they must, and this is what they are aiming for) they sight a group of dwarves and a few Bree Militia coming the other way. As soon as the dwarves see you they stop and lower their spears. The militia hang back at the sides and draw their swords.*
OOC: Your troops are completely unaware of any troops in the region other than those that they have seen. I have included a convieniant list for you:
x Dunedain Snipers, x MWE
250 Swarthy Dwarves, 375 MWE
29 Bree Militia, 23ish MWE
All other troops are unknown to you.

OOC: Problem with this first move. I have the Zag Meze Elgereze, Gundabad's primary stealth unit. Not many, but enough. 850 Frozen Skirmishers (850) 350 Black Wargs (700) 100 Bronze Knights of Dol Guldur (1,000) 15 Werewolves (150) 10 Heavily Armored Trolls (200) 5 Ironheads (50) 20 Zag-Meze Elgereze (50) 5 Guards of Ashmog (25) 100 Cave Shields (100) 50 Black Uruk Shield-Bows (100) 50 Black Bowmen (100)
That's my list.
Tul Generas of the Orcs, Darthraxx of the dragon Knights. I RP, and have lots of fun.

Just because someone's good at hiding, that doesn't mean that they're good at spotting someone who's hiding.

That also doesn't make the other forces any better at hiding
If your argument is that they find and smash my snipers, they won't, because you never sent them out stealthing/scouting, and they're unlikely to find some of the best stealth units in the RP and smash them in their home turf.

Is this counting the units lost at the forodwaith?

It looks like it to me, although the numbers are oddly round

Umm. . . Yes it does, because they know the tricks, and can therefore look beyond the tricks. Someone would need to be much better for someone good at hiding to not have a chance at seeing some.

And how does that help? They aren't going to be able to reach the Dunedain in time or beat them in stealth or combat, plus there is hardly any of them

Gah! My knee hit the back button on my mouse and now I have to re-type everything! I'm giving you the short(er) version (which probably isn't much shorter).
Not necessarily. Hiding is based upon knowing various tips and tricks and having good camouflage (combined with a good location), while finding is based upon knowing the various tips and tricks and being good at distinguishing things (combined with recognizing good locations). Ultimately, though, it comes down to camouflage/location against observation (distinguishing and recognition). The hunter knows some tips and tricks to find signs of the target's general location, and the target knows those tips and tricks to minimize the hunter's ability to use them. The target knows other tips and tricks to help conceal himself better, while the hunter knows those tips and tricks to help in seeing through the target's concealment. Each of these, however, only goes so far.
Tips and tricks will be especially useless here. Really, most of them are only helpful when the hunter is actively searching for the target. If the hunter isn't actively searching for the target, then he won't bother looking for that kind of stuff, and so any knowledge in that area won't matter much. Your troops are just passing through the region, so their priority is in covering ground, not finding Dunedain. Even worse, the passing of your troops is going to destroy any signs of the Dunedain, so those won't exactly be able to give away their location. Actually, your troops really aren't likely to run across any signs of them anyways, destroyed or not. The Dunedain would likely be moving alongside your troops from a distance, then finding good spots to wait for them to get close enough to shoot at before slipping off. So in a situation like this, finding the Dunedain is going to rely almost solely upon observation, and not necessarily the kind of observation that someone who can hide is good at. Someone who can hide will be able to observe and find good hiding spots to use or search. In this case, to find the Dunedain, you need someone who can observe and distinguish between the environment and a person. Passively looking at thousands of patches of grass on various hills in the distance and happening to recognize that one is actually someone wearing a coarse green cloak is a very different kind of observation as actively searching the environment for good hiding spots.
