*The Dunedain lash out at the nearby Werewolves, but quickly return to their groups after striking.* *A number of golfers appear from behind the wall on your back-right flank. They charge towards the trebuchets.* *The Hobbits continue, ducking in and out around the Trolls taking strikes as the opportunities arise.* (By what means are your Trolls attacking?)
*Mangonels fire.* *The linemen and spearmen guard the army's flanks from the cavalry.* *The Dwarf axemen attack your archers, generally moving towards the trebuchets.*
*The Werewolves stay back, taking any opportunity to destroy a Dunedain without losing any wolves.* *The golfers are attacked by my melee units.* *The Trolls continue using their flails and armored hands to attack the hobbits.* *Trebuchets fire.* *At the last second, the melee cavalry swerve off, and the Archer cavalry behind them also swerve off, while sending arrows into your forces at point blank range.* *The Archers fire at the Dwarves from point black range, retreating through the fort as they do so.* How many dwarves do you have?
How many Trebs/Mangonels do we each have at this point do you think?
*The Dunedain are sure to watch each other's backs, being careful that no such opportunity arises.* *The golfers fight back.* *The Trolls slowly realize that their flails do more harm than good. As they try to hit the Hobbits amongst their ranks, many of them hit their fellow Trolls, doing severe damage to them. The Hobbits continue to take advantage of this.*
*Ditto. *
*My archers fire at the cavalry.* *The spearmen move to attack your archers.* *The axemen chase down your archers, cutting them down in swathes.* I've got fifty axemen and fifty spearmen, worth four MWE each.
I'm inclined to make things simple and just say that they're both completely gone.

*The Werewolves take no losses, due to be far enough from their opponents.* *The golfers are slowly destroyed by the higher worth units.* *ditto* *The archers attack the axemen and spearmen at point-blank range.* *The Cavalry swings back to attack your archers.*
If you only have fifty of each, I'd say that at point-blank range, 100 archers worth 2 would destroy 100 other units, don't you?
I kind of feel like that would be true. about equal worth destroyed, you had more units, I have more range. feels accurate enough.

*The Dunedain make a break for the fort. They all charge in that direction, but they're also careful to watch their backs and are ready to fend off the Werewolves.* *Ditto.* *The Tookish archers keep about their strategy, despite their few survivors. They use the Trolls as cover from other Trolls, forcing them to hit each other.*
*The axemen are taken down, but not without doing plenty of damage themselves.* *The spearmen move in behind them, keeping their shields up, and taking virtually no losses from arrows as of yet.* *My army acts as before. The archers fire, while the linemen guard them.*
With heavy armor on my axemen, yes they'd go down, but they'd do plenty of damage while they're at it. With the spearmen, the combination of heavy armor and shields would keep them safe as of right now.

Then we'll go with that.
Sorry, I was gone.
*The Dunedain find it difficult to get to the fort without leaving themselves exposed.* *The Trolls don't see the Tookish archers that duck behind the other trolls.* *My troops split, and the archers fire at your archers.*
Umm. . . Other than the fact that ranged units can hit them before they get near enough to do damage. And the spearmen, what kind of shields? Point-blank range offers a lot of accuracy.

*They press through anyways, though they strike back at any attackers despite exposing themselves at times.* *The Tooks continue yet more, fire arrows into the weak points in the Trolls' armor.*
*The spearmen pursue the archers that move towards your right flank (the side with the other battle going on), though many of them face the opposite direction to cover from arrow-fire from the other half.* *Most of the troops in my army suddenly charge at your left group of archers, staying in a loose scatter.*
Meh, I don't care about them enough to argue. Roman-style scutum. Given their size, however, the Dwarves can easily hide most of their bodies behind the shields. Your archers would probably have their toes, and the very tops of their helmets to shoot at, and even those would have very little chance of being injured due to the angles at which the arrows would be hitting.

And now we get the lovely job of calculating your losses.

Greeaat. so. . . where do we start?

We already decided that all artillery was destroyed, so that takes care of your trebuchets. Given your cavalry's tactics in barraging my forces, my archers would have a good opportunity at fighting back. They were heavily outnumbered though (and honestly probably wouldn't have survived to the end of the battle ), even with my own cavalry assisting them. Shall we go with a hundred and fifty casualties (one for every two of my troops)? Trolls/Hobbits next. At first engaging, your Trolls would deal rather heavy casualties to my Tooks, but after that the Hobbits would gain some ground. Given tactics, Your Trolls (by my estimates) would've taken out somewhere around eight of their own kind, while the Hobbits could take out another five (again, being at point-blank, yet still difficult to reach by the Trolls), while my snipers may have gotten two before your Trolls started guarding their eyes. Say fifteen Trolls downed? With the Werewolves and Dunedain, well, you started with about fifty Werewolves, and I had twenty-five commandos, fifteen rangers, and ten snipers. If you lost one Werewolf for each sniper, every one and a half commandos, and for every two rangers, that'd be thirty-five Werewolves by the time all of my troops were destroyed. Then there were my golfers and your Guards of Ashmog. Now your guards are most certainly more capable soldiers, but at the same time, they were also heavily outnumbered. Many of them would've been destroyed solely from being overwhelmed. Say, fifteen guards? And finally, we'll say that the rest of my surviving forces engaged your Black Wargs. My spearmen would have been quite effective against them, though the other troops not so much. Maybe a hundred and fifty casualties? Those are mostly from the spearmen, since they're so well suited against cavalry. Your arrow-fire wouldn't have really done much because of the spearmen's armor and shields, and once they're engaged your volleys would do just as much damage to your own forces as they would mine.
1,000 850 Frozen Skirmishers (150 lost) 500 350 Black Wargs (150 lost) 100 Bronze Knights of Dol Guldur 50 15 Werewolves (35 lost) 25 10 Heavily Armored Trolls (15 lost) 5 Ironheads 20 Zag-Meze Elgereze 20 5 Guards of Ashmog (15 lost) 100 Cave Shields 50 Black Uruk Shield-Bows 50 Black Bowmen 20 High Gundabad Trebuchet (all lost)

Equaling. . . 3,275 worth. Wow, that's low.
Well, whatever.
