Oh, I guess I didn't realize only we have those. IDK if it's just California, but basically they test the car for it's smog levels, and reports it to the government. It's another example of rather idiotic laws in my opinion.

If someone like Ford wants to sell a new car in Australia, it'll be smog tested. Once it passes the test, it's fine for the life of it... Well until they try to change the rules. It is a pretty silly law; just forces people into car loan debt. Look at Volkswagen, they were caught greenwashing just recently.
The older say 70's-90's Volvos are quite cheap, while still being safer than other models of the same year. This particular one was built around the 80's. It had a misfire, which usually isn't a big deal. Cool little project car if you're into that sort of thing, but I guess your state will probably restrict something that old.

Actually my drivers manual said don't start off driving in a large car. It's not recommended. Also power steering is recommended.
Unless of course, you have the money to buy a small power steer car. I think you're better to learn in what you're going to drive once you get your permit. You really learn how to park a car without power steer.

Beige! Grandpa's colour. It's due for new shocks and springs, so I'm going to drop it an inch or two. It currently sits like a 4X4. Which means it'll likely handle better than it currently does. I'm am looking for some chrome bumpers, 'cause my plastic ones are flimsy and ugly... The bumpers and others are last on the "to do list". Mechanics first, gotta get the new suspension.
My Dad and I have an XC Falcon station wagon we're slowing doing up. Bit of local muscle. Somehow my Mum managed to park that cruise ship at the shops when she was younger.
