Almost all of the riders are felled, as their horses rear up and try to flee from the flames racing through the bear's fur. Galdan alone remains on his mount, kicking its flanks. Although it rears up, it also charges forwards, its front hooves kicking at the bear with the full weight of horse and rider behind them.
The bear stumbles back slightly, but then rears forward to attack again. Before he does, however, Gor'El arrives and attacks him. Seeing an opportunity, Dror and the soldier attack the horse, causing it to rear up and send Galdan flying out of the saddle. They rush over to him, pull him to his feet, and put a blade at his neck. "The battle stops now or I smash him."

Dror, facing Gor'El, so that Galdan is between them. "Careful now. I don't want to see him hurt any more than you do." The soldier, at his back, faces towards the Tavern and Demiu.

"There are horses aplenty in the main room, with the Xains we smashed." The soldier who spoke pauses, and the other speaks. "We serve the Northern Sun of Morñornia, though we are currently under the command of Lord Demiu of the Lion Kingdom. We were sent here to escort him and the Xain General Corellus, who was captured on the field of battle. We were supposed to be exchanging him for the prisoners Dror held here, but the Xain attacked us and we ended up taking over the building."
"Well you've found us, I am Xavic and this is Valithor."
"Excellent. Are either of you hurt?"
OOC: I just realized I typed horses instead of swords in the post you quoted. Sorry.
Demiu casts a Tier 3 spell, encasing the dagger with ice.
Dror doesn't move the knife. "It will melt. Why don't we just talk. I think we can cut a deal here that will benefit all of us."
"Yes, I think we can. This Tavern is ours and you are outnumbered. Your creature is dying a slow and agonizing death, and we have a dragon. My men will find your prisoners momentarily if they haven't already, and I'll be doing much worse than freezing a knife if you don't drop that man. Now, why don't you stand down so we can get on with ransoming two Xain Generals?"
Dror, facing Gor'El, so that Galdan is between them. "Careful now. I don't want to see him hurt any more than you do." The soldier, at his back, faces towards the Tavern and Demiu.
Gor'El lets the blast go, it flys past Gor'El and lands in front of the soldier behind him.

"Broen will be fine once he recovers. The rest of what you have said is true, except for one thing. You don't want to ransom us. You want to end this war and prevent us from ever coming back again. If you agree to my terms, I will make those things happen."

The bear moves so that he is in between Gor'El and the others. He is injured, but seems determined to protect them.

"Really? He appears to be burning alive." Demiu pauses. "Name the terms."

"Only on the outside. His insides are fully protected. I want you to turn over any Xain prisoners you have to me and let us all go. In exchange, I am willing to answer three questions you pose to me about our empire. I will also do everything in my power to prevent our armies from ever returning. If I fail, I will send you advance notice so that you can be prepared."
