But if you were to get a boy (they're more relaxed than the girls) and get it as a puppy, you could train it up. That's very sucky. if you need, I can produce a paper for you to give to your parents on the pros of getting a dog.

*Does research* Yes, they are. But you can get them pre house trained/socialized for around 700$. Do you like Drax from Marvel? :3 He's so cute. But James looks nicer...
Indeed, I'll work on it then. Yes! They provide lots of mental and emotional support. Not to mention they boost the responsibility levels of the owner and keep them active (the dogo needs to play and walk. =P) They also will clean up any food spills in the kitchen.
