Turning so I faced the wide windows, I hefted the large sword up with both hands so that the sunlight hit it. As soon as I did so, there was a flash of bluish light and I felt a strange surge of heat and power, rippling out from the Soulbinder and then concentrate on my right hand. I looked down at my hand and saw a glowing dark blue mark appear. From that mark, a light blue glow spread out from it along with a tingling feeling, up to my shoulder and down to my fingertips. “Great StarClan!” I cried and stared at my hand in horror. Why was my hand glowing?! “What in the name of the Builders?!” Eli shouted as it happened. “That definitely wasn’t supposed to happen!” At that moment, there was the loud thumping of guards or mods or both pounding on the door and trying to open it. I saw the tip of a crowbar wedged in between the door and frame too. “We have to get out of here!” I shouted. Without thinking through it first, I slammed the sword into the glass wall. It shattered with a hiss and crash, leaving a gaping hole. Eli pulled the two, folded up hover boards out of his backpack and tossed them upward. They unfolded mid-air and hovered near us. We jumped on the boards and they jolted into motion, taking us out the window and into the open air above the city. All of Eternal City could be seen from up here, all of the thirteen districts and the many, many, many buildings. A grand, sparkling bright city it was. But anyways, now wasn’t the time. I led the way, navigating around towering skyscrapers and between narrow allies while trying not to be obvious. It was just like driving, except, no steering wheel and much faster. I loved it but even I had to admit it wasn’t the easiest to control. Finally, we reached the selected return point. I landed in the clearing behind the abandoned warehouse, hidden on the other side by a narrow alley. There was all sorts of trash back here, from literal garbage cans, to a scrapped hover-car, but it made a good hiding place.
“Ha-haa!” I cried with a triumphant fist-pump. “They never knew what hit ‘em, they didn’t!” Eli landed beside me and clapped, a bit sarcastically. “Good job, us.” He smirked. “That was awesome, you should’ve seen the looks on those guards’ faces!” “I know right, same with Quark.” I held up the sword. “Look at this beauty.” He looked at it all right, with a look of minor disgust. “Yeah, now you can go sell our national heirloom to the highest bidder, so it can get trashed. Bravo.” He scoffed. “I’m only helping you because I owe you and you’re a friend, not because I think what you’re doing is right. My debt is repaid, next time you won’t get my help for something like this so easily.” “No!” I exclaimed, a bit indignant. “You think I’d sell this baby on the black market? Ha. HA. Yeah right.” I raised an eyebrow, “Let’s just say I have reasons.” “What kind of reasons?” Eli asked suspiciously. “None a’ ya business, ‘at’s what,” I snapped, frustrated he thought that. “Call it personal reasons, if you will. Listen, I might have just stolen a priceless artifact but I’m still as loyal as heck to my city, I wouldn’t sell this type of thing for a millions bucks, which I probably could for the record.” “What am I supposed to expect? You know what, whatever, I don’t care.” He shrugged, annoyed, and flipped his hover board back into the air. “I’ve got things to do.” Before Eli disappeared into the bustling city, he called, “Have fun with your personal reasons.” “Yeah, thanks.” I retorted and hopped on my own board * * *
All the mods were there, from Quark to Gnuehchcaz to Essa Kryze, in a large meeting room used for important staff meetings exclusively. Thus far it wasn’t going particularly well. “This doesn’t make sense,” K66 hissed, shaking her head. “How did they get past the patrols? The security cameras?” Zach shook his head, “The real question isn’t how they got past the physical barrier, but the technical ones. They fact that they have access to our codes and therefore systems worries me. With that kind of power, they could do almost anything.”
“You’re right,” Henny4315 agreed, brow furrowed in thought. “Something like that cannot be in the hands of a civilian, especially not one capable of what he’s capable of.” “She.” Quark corrected. “Pardon?” Zach asked. “She. The person who broke in and knocked me out with a girl.” Quark explained, “I don’t know her, probably never even met her.” “Can you give us a description?” TopSecretSpyGuy asked, leaning forward. “I only saw her for a couple seconds, but I think she was wearing all black, or mostly black, from what I saw.” Quark told them, then paused, thinking. “She was younger, maybe thirteen or fourteen, and had a rather round, childlike face and a brown braid sticking out of her hood and green and yellow eyes and…” She shook her head. “I’m sorry I don’t remember anything thing else.” “That’s alright,” RomeNZ said kindly, “I doubt any of us would, with an encounter that brief.” “Yeah, I guess.” Quark replied, “As administrator, I feel personally responsible for this as I was unable to prevent it.” “It’s not your fault,” Essa Kryze shrugged, “That kid clearly knew what she was doing. I promise you this, though, we will bring her to justice.” She slammed a fist down on the table for emphasis. “Oh!” Quark cried, “I just remembered, the girl had a cat on her shoulder!” Her brow furrowed in thought again, “I think it was gray and white, maybe?” Several gasped were heard from the mods as they realized the most likely possibility. Plenty of Eternal citizens had brown hair or dressed in black but there was one who always had a gray cat with her. “Neko Paintbrush, the artist and writer?” Rome said, shaking his head. “She wouldn’t do that! I don’t believe she would, why would she?” Before anyone could respond, the double doors to the meeting room were thrown open and a breathless mod detective burst in. He held a folder in one hand and a device of some sort in the other. “We’ve just found new evidence,” He exclaimed, “We know exactly who it was and we have proof!”

Ikr. Quark Sorry about my fictional self knocking you out.
Thanks! Originally I was going to just do something random, but instead I decided to add in bits of foreshadowing (of what would happen one post later xD) in the codes.
