"Yes, a letter arrived before dawn with some urgency. It appears there was an incident. Your nephew was injured, sadly, but Lord Cyril has ensured he will be alright. He has a plan in place and stands ready to take control, so long as we hold up our end of the bargain."
"There seem to have been quite a few letters circulating recently," comments Lady Valerie, eyes ever so slightly narrowed. Stepping slightly closer to Urbien, she lowers her voice, ensuring that no guardsmen or servants can overhear their discussion. "When do we anticipate Lord Cyril taking power?"
"As soon as he has word that he is being made a part of our kingdom."

"I see." Shivering slightly, Lady Valerie pulls her scarf a little tighter. "Shall we go inside?" Presuming Lord Urbien acquiesces, she starts walking at a relaxed but relatively quick pace towards the doors.

"Of course! You must be tired from your journey."
"Indeed." Lady Valerie does not speak for a moment, waiting until the two of them have entered the building and are passing through a quiet corridor. "Lord Amvion tells me the two of you have...corresponded, Lord Urbien."

Valerie's guards follow them but fall back slightly at her word.
"Ah, that matter. Yes, we met after the Xain crisis and have been in intermittent communication since. With the kingdoms at peace, after all, there is no need for enmity. Following his missive about the meeting, I responded with my concerns. He replied, and we were able to reach an advantageous agreement for both of us. Unfortunately, it came just as you were leaving and I didn't want to overburden you, especially as you must be terribly worried about your nephew."

"How very thoughtful of you," Valerie replies dryly. "Fortunately for us both, my limited knowledge of the situation did not cause any major disruption to the negotiations. The wizard Gidie proposed we formally establish a new group of Kaspik Wardens, made up of the Forest Band, but Lord Amvion was loath to accept it; no final solution has been agreed upon, but he will be holding another summit shortly, in the hope of winning over the Shadow Warriors, who seemed strongly opposed to his original proposals."

"Always. We'll have to consult with our allies to find a way to bring them around. There should be no trouble defeating the Forest Band's proposition once that's done."

"Until tomorrow, Lord Urbien." Lady Valerie proceeds along the corridor, gesturing for her guards to rejoin her, and returns to her quarters.
"Sleep well."
OOC: Unless there's anything you want to do in the night, I'll skip to morning in a little while.
IC: Lady Valerie reaches her room and enters to rest. Later that evening, once the castle is asleep, Valerie rises from her bed, wrapping herself in a long dressing gown and lighting a single candle. Seating herself at her desk, she stares at the parchment for a moment before dipping her quill in the inkpot and swiftly penning a brief letter. Rolling it up and applying the wax, Valerie carefully slides the topmost drawer of her desk out of its brackets, placing the scroll at the very back of the cavity before replacing the drawer and returning to her bed.
OOC: That's all I want to do at this stage, so we're fine to skip to morning.
