Not to be that one guy, but I never liked Pixal or water ninja Nya, so seeing Nya as Samurai X again is awesome. More relevantly, this makes me think that these sets might just be sets, and won't have any actual storyline to back them up, since it would be pretty contrived to have Nya revert to Samurai X in-canon. We are getting four special episodes in the first half of 2019, though, and it would be a terrible marketing decision if the sets and the media released at the same time weren't related to each other at all....
Also, from an objective standpoint, that figure is fantastic. =P

I'm starting to think the Ninja won't canonically get any new vehicles in the next season or TV special, and so LEGO is remaking the old vehicles for the purpose of a set wave. I'm not sure about Garmadon, though.

Just saw the picture. While the movie version's helmet was impressive, I like 2012 Garmadon's face print much better and his extra-arms piece is also cooler to me than the one that appeared with Garmadon in SoG and Hunted. Since I never actually got 2012 (or 2013) Garmadon, this new one is excellent.

The movie designs are 100% confirmed to be used. Yes, I know, "This isn't Ninjago!" "These designs look dumb!" "The movie ruined everything!", and I used to think the same thing to a small extent. However, I realised why this change was necessary, and I finally accepted it. You should too.
I love these new suits, but I'm really not a fan of how Jay looks, which is ironic since his new design is my favourite out of all the movie designs. The use of 2 wraps in a similar style to the Season 8 suits of Kai and Nya looks awkward to me, especially with how the upper wrap looks clipped on.
Lloyd looks so much better than in the initial leaks. It helps that the new hood mold has fully grown on me.
On a side note, it would be really impressive if LEGO actually managed to keep these sets from leaking until the official reveal.
Welp, I just saw some leaks. I'm not a big fan of the ninja's new masks because it looks as if they just mixed up all the previous masks into one and turned them upside down. Garmadon's expression looks pretty scary, and it looks like he has his old helmet from 2012. It makes sense because he did come in the original ultra dragon set. I saw what you all mean about "Shaved Wu" and I'm pretty positive it's TFSM. I also saw some random blurred-out set that looked like Wu riding in a school bus.

I liked how Zane's movie design was incorporated into season 8 though; giving him the ability to disguise his robotic face with holographic skin, and without the creepy smile.
That being said, I still think the movie designs being used in the show's continuity will continue to confuse any new fans coming in from the movie.

A financial report from LEGO said that Ninjago benefitted from the release of the movie, and a more recent report said that Ninjago was one of the best selling themes of January-June 2018, outselling Star Wars, Superheroes and City. I don't think the new designs were confusing new fans to begin with.

I think their not being the original designs is good reason enough, as it was quite discombobulating to a number of viewers, but I also don't like the facts that Nya looks more like a nondescript female action hero and that Lloyd's eyes are green (by default). The latter is especially odd since the vast majority of characters have black eyes--and before you say "That's no reason" and "The eyes are so that he stands out," yes, he does stand out, but not in a good way. The effect is more one of shock and confusion than the intended "wow, that's unique and cool." Plus, perhaps more objectively, that particular shade of green doesn't go too well with the traditional minifigure yellow skin tone.
Oh, and Kai's new hair is annoyingly and laughably exaggerated.

No, them not being the original designs is not good reason enough, because it shows you're just looking at these designs with a nostalgic blindfold. If they were the original designs, you probably wouldn't hate them so much because they were the designs you had gotten used to ever since 2011-2012. Also, I actually grew to like the green eyes, so don't treat your opinion as objective fact.

Zane just got leaked. Like Jay, I really don't like the x look of his suit, but the rest of the suits still look great. Hopefully we'll get to see the golden ninja soon!

I second this! Yeah, I don't really like them either. I have started to grow on all of them lately, except- Jay. I don't like that he looks like a 3 year old all of a sudden....
