We're getting minifigures of the Oni after all! A new minifigure pack with 3 Oni, including the villain seen in the trailer, has been leaked. It's clear that March of the Oni will not be getting sets, and the Summer sets will be focused on a new season, but this pack will still be giving us minifigures of them. As much as I would have liked to see sets, I'm just glad that we did get minifigures of the main villains, who have been built up for such a long time.
...So apparently there's a short Oni...? Didn't see that one coming.
I don't know why they're making this pack. Does this actually mean that March of the Oni won't get any sets? Are they not making sets for it just because it's a four-episode "special" and not a full season? They made sets for Day of the Departed, and that was just a 44-minute special....
Anyway, I'm unimpressed. All of the torsos for the Oni are the same, which is disappointing, and the horns on the leader are an even more absurd size than new-design Kai's hair. Most of the details on them are difficult to see because they're mostly black. I guess they just figure that Ninjago fans will snap this thing up no matter what the Oni look like and how much it costs, since the Oni will be entirely exclusive to the pack?
I'm personally getting tired of the "short foot soldier" cliche Ninjago has created. First there were the short ones among the Constrictai, then there was the Stone Army scout, then Mindroid, then the Stone Army scouts returned in DotD just when we thought we were done with the short villains, and now this. I get that it's supposed to give a humorous effect, but it's been done so many times now, and it's making it harder to take the villains' armies seriously.
I tried to tag you before, but you didn't notice. There has been a lot of Ninjago news recently, so what do you think?
Legacy was okay? Just toy advertisements. Could've definitely been worse.
Trailers for S10 look good.
It would make sense for Cole to die. They want to kill a character, but Kai was the first main character, Lloyd is the current main character, Jay is too funny, Zane's already died, Nya, erm, equalism, and Cole is the only one they could pull off killing. However, we saw him disappear in the trailer, which tells me otherwise. The trailers are showing us what the creators want us to see. He could die at the beginning of the series, but that would have less impact, and he would probably come back near the finale. Also, if he died and came back in the middle of the series, him dying at the finale would have less effect.
Basically, at this point, I'm just letting the creators do their thing. They have it under control, and speculation won't change anything, so i'll just enjoy the ride.
Huh, if anything, I would think it'd make more sense for Jay and/or Nya to be the one(s) to die. Their stories are pretty much wrapped up now after seasons 6 and 7, and I really don't know what the writers could do to add on to their stories without making them break up again or something. One or both of them having a heroic, sacrificial last stand to save the other(s) would definitely raise the stakes, and there was also that picture that was revealed a while ago (not sure if it was for March of the Oni or season 10), depicting two of the symbols that'd earlier represented Jay and Nya, incorporated into a very spiritual-looking symbol.
But I actually don't think any Ninja will be offed permanently in March of the Oni. It does kinda seem like Tommy Andreasen was talking about a ninja literally falling and breaking a body part, like when Lloyd crashed in Hiroshi's Labyrinth in season 8.

I hadn't even thought of that, but you do make a point. Personally I don't mind short foot soldiers, especially since the only one that was blatantly presented as being humorous in the TV series was Mindroid. All the rest were just sort of there; granted they were kind of funny, but they also didn't act any different than the taller villains. Also I still find the short warriors funny. =P

Actually, the creators never said that a character would die, just that "One ninja will fall", which could mean something else. In fact, Cole literally falls in the second trailer.
Wait... What happens if the Oni take over cloud kingdom?
Anarchy! Chaos! Everything is thrown into disarray!
On a more serious note, I think it would just lead to the ninja having to decide their own destiny.
Yeah that sounds likely. I was just thinking and then remember the Oni entertaining the Cloud Kingdom realm in the trailer and thought it'd be a ligitament question to ask.

I didn't even realize this was a thing until now. xP I don't really have a problem with the short warriors, either. At least there's some variety in the ranks of enemy warriors, instead of each and every one looking the same.

Those monks had better hide their scrolls and whatnot when the invasion strikes, because I'm pretty sure nobody wants the Oni writing everyone's destiny for them.

*legitimate
To be honest, I'm not sure if the dark cloud will actually destroy anything.

Wouldn't the Oni be able to just rewrite everyone's stories to make them deceased, or loyal servants of the Oni? Because I remember back in season 5, a writer spilled ink on Dareth's scroll, and that caused him to get covered in oil, I think.

Maybe destiny can only be affected by the writers themselves?
