I've seen all the minifigures, but I can't see images of the sets anywhere. The minifigures look cool, but if the sets tie into the story, I have low expectations for season 10. It pretty much seems like Day of the Departed 2.0, except with the cool Yang lore swapped out with yet another Overlord return.
If the sets don't tie into the story, and are just a throwback to previous seasons, I wish they'd made an Overlord dragon set instead of another Ultra Dragon.
My theory is that the Oni will turn into the old villains. Also I really don't think the sets will tie in with the story. The sets are most likely just to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the concept of Ninjago. The Overlord images are clearly Garmadon possessed by the Overlord, which means it's a redesign of the possessed Garmadon in 2012. So I really don't think the sets will have anything to do with the story. Also season 10 will be in the second half of 2019 and will have it's own wave of sets (Antonia is confirmed for the second half of 2019).
I totally agree about wishing they had made an Overlord dragon set instead of an Ultra Dragon.
So wait, if the sets won't tie into the story, why would the Oni become old villains? Just release a second wave of sets with actual minifigures of the Oni. Not giving us minifigures of them would just be really cheap.

Since as far as I'm concerned no one has mentioned this, I might as well point out that on the 2019 poster/shirt it shows the original five ninja except for Zane. Is it just me, or is this extremely odd? If they were going to have four ninja on a poster/shirt, shouldn't those four ninja have been the original four? I can see them not putting Nya in the artwork, since she wasn't a ninja during the first seasons, but why wouldn't Zane be in there? Tommy Andreasen seems to like putting Zane through some harsh situations, seeing as how he's died twice. Zane has been a pretty big part of seasons 8 and 9, so something significant to Zane could occur. So far, the four-part special could go any way. It's possible that episode one could focus on the Jaya bit. Episode 2 could focus on the original four ninja. Episode 3 could focus on Lloyd. And episode 4 could be the big finale. Tommy Andreasen stated that episode 97 is his favorite, and the most intense, episode in the series. This means that something big could happen. After all, it did get pretty intense in seasons 8 and 9 for a kids show. So, anything could happen with Zane. It definitely wouldn't surprise me if he dies.
Zane has gotten broken or disabled in some way at least once in every season since season 4 (minus season 9); I think he's Tommy Andreasen's least favorite Ninja.

Maybe there'll be Oni minifigures in the second half of 2019, but they'll take the forms of the old villains in the first couple episodes of season 10, as a way to have the throwback sets somewhat tie in with the show.

Antonia?
She's a new character based on a Ninjago fan who sent a letter saying that she wanted to be a character in the show, since she was really sick and it was one of her last wishes. Don't worry, she's gotten better.
Her design has also been revealed, so you might want to see that!

That's sort of what I was thinking. I was also saying that more as what would happen if the sets did the into the show, but I still think they'll be on there own.

That's the problem. I really don't think the Oni will get minifigures. I could see the special going any way. Tommy Andreasen said the four-part special would be the conclusion to a 24-episode arc. When I saw that I assumed that meant the Oni were coming, since the first twenty episodes were focusing on the Oni legends. Then I saw that the main villain is rumored to be someone similar in appearance to Chen, but with Cole's hair style. Now I really don't know who the villain will be. If the Oni are the villains, then I don't see there being any sets with them, as I don't believe the special will have sets related to it. The best I could see from LEGO is a Bricktober pack with Oni Mystaké. Even then it would still be cheap.

Based on the end of season 9, I'm pretty sure that, unless the 2019 content has gone through a rewrite, the Oni are gonna be the main villains of season 10, or at least one half of season 10. I don't think Oni minifigures would be that hard to make for LEGO, and they would be a unique new look for Ninjago villain minifigs. The main villain you mentioned might be an Oni who took on human hair, like Mystake. Maybe the Oni will be the villains for the first half of that 24-episode arc, and that'll lead up to the return of the Overlord in the second half ?

The 24-episode arc includes seasons 8 and 9, so the four episodes releasing in early 2019 will be the last four episodes of that arc. I was also thinking the villain could be an Oni. I guess we'll just have to see how it plays out.

Oh, I thought the 24-episode arc was seasons 10 and 11. Okay, that makes more sense.

If so, that is really disappointing, especially since we were teased with minifigures of the Oni in Season 9. The J mentioned the idea of the Oni shapesifting into old villains in the first half and revealing their true forms in the second half, which makes a lot of sense. Maybe the remakes tie into the first 2 episodes, and there'll be a second wave with the Oni based on the next 2 episodes. Remember that Early Summer and Late Summer are both possible release dates for new waves, so the Season 10 sets could be released in Late Summer.

I'm sure there will be season 10 sets in summer. I'm just worried that the Oni won't be around then. It is possible that the four-part special will be later than I'm assuming. It's coming in the first half of 2019 and season 10 is going to air in the second half. Now that I think about it, there could be remake sets in January, four-part special sets in June, and season 10 sets in August, October, or December. It really depends on how early the four-part special releases, and how late season 10 releases.

Doesn't LEGO only do two waves each year? If there are sets based on the four-part special, they'll probably be included either in the remake sets wave or the season 10 wave (like how the second wave of Skybound sets was included in the DoTD wave).

Tommy Andreasen gave us a new reveal, and true to his word, it is a good one!
The crew loved the upcoming 4-episode special so much that to commemorate the 100th episode, they will edit it into a feature-length TV movie! Yes, those of you that were disappointed by The LEGO Ninjago Movie now have a brand new movie to look forward to! Also, we have more Ninjago content coming before that!
On a sadder note, the movie will be dedictated to Scott Godon-Decoteau, a crew member who unfortunately passed away in an accident last month. Before that, he was a driving force behind Skybound, Day of the Departed, and Hands of Time.
Hopefully, this movie will serve as a great ending to the Oni and Dragons arc, as well as the movie the series deserves. The LEGO Ninjago Movie didn't do that well, and many fans weren't impressed. Perhaps this can win them over.
