Your right it was, I skimed over parts of it my fisrt time reading it. I have sence pick uped on them in my 7 most recent re-readings of the tirology.
Yikes, that's a lot. Sounds like me with Harry Potter.
For some reason my mum let me read LotR before Harry Potter I was obsessed with it for about six months, but then I got fed up with it and haven't read it since. I think I read them twice?

What made you get fed up?
Too short and not complex enough

Um, the last 4 HP books were all about the length of an average WoT book. I wouldn't exactly call that short...
Eh, not really, I finished HP and the Order of the Phoenix in one day, in around 3-5 hours. I could never do that in a WoT book. Besides, aMoL pulls up the average a lot, it's half the length of the Bible, and the two before it, ToM and tGS aren't much shorter

Wheel of Time has a much more "in-depth," detailed, "slow-reading" kind of a style though, if you know what I mean. HP is something you can read a lot faster and still get what's going on.

Probably because less of a context needs set, since it's set in a real time in recent history. WoT on the other hand is a completely unique world
