"You know, you're just like me." The Joker waved his handgun. "What do you mean?" asked Batgirl, taking a step back. "We've both been... inspired, by the classics. You're just a knock-off Batman, and I'm just a knock-off Joker. We've studied history, and we're still doomed to repeat it! HAHAHA!" Batgirl stood in uncomfortable silence, shifting her weight to another foot. "You can't take the truth, can you? Maybe you just need to build up a resistance to it. I'm sure you grew up with stories of the magnificent Batman fighting the evil Joker. I grew up with a different story, a healthy doseof truth! There are no heroes and villains, little girl. There are only people trying to survive and people trying to step on them. I was stepped on a lot at your age, hahaha! The Joker was my hero. No matter how many times Batman stepped on him, he stood back up. No matter how many times you step on me, I'll stand back up. And eventually you'll just...." The Joker made an ambiguous gesture with his hands. "Disappear! Like Batman! HAHAHA!"
