Never mind I probably won't be able to enter because of holidays and visiting. Although... If you extended it to the 20th I could advertise it around on here...
I'm not actually entering; I don't know the first thing about BBCode.
I guess then I won't have much competition, but why not? It's fairly easy, even if you don't know HTML. (Although what I'm doing isn't really that great, so. . . .)
It's just like html, but with [ and ] instead of < and >.
Some HTML stuff isn't supported on BBCode . . . I tried doing a <fieldset> for my sig (I did [fieldset]) but it still didn't work.
Yeah. Basically, a program swaps the [ and ] for < and > so it appears as html, but only if it's allowed. It will also automatically add and disable certain styles.
The position style is disabled, because it allows you to put stuff outside the content area.
The center tag is replaced with [div style="text-align:center;"][/div] The [style] tag doesn't work because it would let you alter the style of the rest of the page.
The [script] tag doesn't work because it would let you program the page to do stuff like show your own unmoderated posts, or possibly steal peoples' passwords.
The [iframe] tag is disabled because of all the stuff you can do with it.

I don't know why, but [input] is disabled.
For whatever reason, they let you use marquee.
These are just some examples.
This is a test.
Also, because bbcode is always in [ and ], it assumes that the emoticon brackets are bbcode, which is why doesn't work as the emote.
If the brackets were replaced by the staff with { and } so that you enter {pi} it would work just fine.

I think that mods don't like it when you use marquee, though. I used it once, and it was rejected.
I thought that the <center> tag was deprecated (is that the right word?) in HTML and that we were supposed to use style="text-align:center;"

I thought that worked . . . I know that the red brick emoticon [ br ] and the broken heart emoticon [ u ] didn't work, and since I knew that those were BBCode tags, I told the staff about it and they fixed it.

Ya, we don't allow marquee anymore, but I think it was probably let through in Sensai's post because it was for demonstration purposes.

<center> is deprecated. That's why the site replaces it.
