They are slightly similar most likely. For one thing, they look the same. I didn't find Garmadon cheesy and I don't think we even know the plot yet:S. And what's wrong with Lloyd being the main character? I guess that's just how I look at them. I don't think Garmadon is cheesy. He looks great! His sealife minions are the problem. Lloyd used to be the Ultimate Spinjitzu Master. I think he's had enough focus. Let's end this here. Every movie has a main character. IMO Lloyd is the only Ninjago character that could be the main character. They couldn't pick another of the ninjas as would annoy fans of the others.

TLNM was doomed from the point they announced it. No it wasn't. At that point it could've gone in any possible direction. And I still think it will do well. Buts it's Ninjago. just the word Ninjago fails

I strongly disagree with this, but considering how easily I could flamewar this topic, I'll just not respond.

It holds a 6.6/10 rating on IMDb. IMDb is pretty critical. Also, the reviewers may have been just judging it by the pilots. I've found that it's uncommon to find somebody who has seen Ninjago and didn't like it - at least a part of it. I'm also surprised that I've seen you in Ninjago topics and reading my Ninjago story, but now you reveal you don't like Ninjago too much.

I really am feeling the same about this. My thoughts when it was announced were that it wouldn't be as good as the show because of the voice actors, they are basically going back to season 1 and 2, and it seemed more comedic than anything. The writers are not experienced like you say they are, but everyone has to start their career somewhere! Other writers have been new but their movie still makes a big hit! I am still hoping for a good movie though. I'm sure I'll probably see it on release day too.

I don't expect it to be good, just okay maybe, but it looks better than it could have been. I can accept it's not the same universe and same characters, but back when it was first announced and they were apparently gonna all be teenagers (probably still are), I was worried it'd be some clichéd high school drama somewhere, and I don't know what I was expecting, I just was expecting bad. Season 3's unnecessary love triangle drama was enough bad writing clichés for this franchise. Yes, the trailer doesn't make it look like it will be incredible, but I'm not expecting it to be.

I know what you're thinking. Just another hater of TLNM who can't help but constantly whine about change. But I promise you this isn't because I'm a Ninjago fan. I don't like the TV show all that much. It's okay. This something else. So, I think most of you have heard the news. The LEGO Ninjago Movie got it's first trailer, and is headed for a release in September. We do have plenty of info on how it will work at this point. And, just to remind everyone, it's a blockbuster movie. You would always expect much from a blockbuster movie, right? So what's the problem? It's a movie with Jackie Chan and a high budget, so it must have a lot of potential. Unfortunately, there is one big mistake this movie made. One massive turn towards the wrong direction. I have some issues with this movie, but I feal mostly for the writing. And that's because Warner Brothers chose the writers to be... ...Kevin and Dan Hageman. Let me just state my opinion on this. This is a terrible decision. Let me repeat what I said earlier-TLNM is a large budget, Jackie Chan, BLOCKBUSTER movie. For such a quality-demanding movie to work, you would need a veteran writer. But The LEGO Ninjago Movie? WB decided that instead of hiring a proffesional writer experienced with movie-writing, they chose the Hagemans, of all people. The Hagemans, for a blockbuster movie. I mean, come on. The Ninjago TV show has nowhere near enough acclaim for the Hagemans to be considered experienced enough to write a blockbuster movie. Fans of Ninjago will say that Ninjago is the most acclaimed TV show of all time, but just look at the ratings. It holds a 6.6/10 rating on IMDb. And despite all that, WB still thought this would be a good idea. *Sigh* Do you get my point now? Ninjago is not the absolute best TV show of all time. The Hagemans may be your favourite writers, but good enough to write a blockbuster movie? No chance. There is nothing that proves they could actually pull this off. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to insult the Hagemans. I'm just stating my opinion. The LEGO Ninjago movie is going towards, for the 100th time, the blockbuster direction. You'd expect veterans to be writing a movie like that. So it just doesn't make any sense why the Hagemans were chosen for this. Unless the Hagemans are being accompanied by other writers, my expectatians for this movie are low. It just seems like this was being done purely to grab the attention of Ninjago fans, and then fill the pockets of the employees of WB. I am just so dissapointed. P.S. Yes, I am aware of the acclaim of Trollhunters. But that had an entire writing team behind it, not just the Hagemans. It's quite illogical that you proclaim the movie is doomed based on it's writers. Truth be told the people who know ninjago the best, is the hageman brothers! Who says they aren't veteran writers and who cares if they are or not?! What matters is they ARE good writers. In fact DID you know that the Hageman brothers made the story for the LEGO Movie?! I didn't hear any complaints about it's story... And yeah, if the LNM is a "blockbuster" because of it's famous actors, then how about the LEGO movie? Morgan Freeman? Chris Pratt? Will Ferrell? Like come on! So yes. There's a great chance the Hagemans will do a great job! Your problem is that there isn't an entire writing team, but there is! That's almost like saying The LEGO BATMAN MOVIE just seems like it was done purely to grab the attention of Batman fans, and then fill the pockets of the employees of WB. I am just so dissappointed. SPOILERS: In fact the only reason why they changed the TV show Lloyd is simply so fans of the Movie wouldn't get confused! It's targeted mainly for NEW FANS!

Also, I'm perfectly cool with it having a different story/universe, because I haven't seen an episode in about a year or two, and I don't want to have to explain the plot of the show to my dad who constantly asks questions during the whole movie.
