My favorite character has always been Samwise Gamgee, the stout-hearted. He really is, as Tolkien once wrote, the chief hero. Without his simple devotion to Frodo and bravery, evil would have ruled Middle-earth. And while at the beginning he perhaps had some of the conceit that some Hobbits have regarding the outside world, he moved past it to long for greater wonder and beauty, and to understand that there are things to high to truly comphrehend, but that makes them all the more wonderful. I have not heard of this character. Well I have not read LoTR, but I have read The Hobbit and watched all the Hobbit movies.

Because you should really read and watch LOTR. It's one of the best books ever, essentially. Now, the book does get fairly dense at some parts, and you might want to skim some of those, but it is a truly beautiful book. Samwise Gamgee is one of the main hobbits in LOTR. He is a simple, brave, heroic gardener, who along with Bilbo's nephew Frodo, saves the world.

He saves Frodo from shelob, and from the orc's tower of Cirith Ungol, and carries him up Mount Doom, among other deeds.

so I wanted your opinion on which of these is the best LOTR character... My favorite is not on the list. My favorite primary character is Legolas but my favorite secondary character is Faramir.

Rudy is famous football player for Notre Dame who barely played football there:P. They made a movie about him starring Sean Astin as the main character, Rudy. The movie is called Rudy, you should watch it, it's VERY good! I loved it before I even really watched football:O!
