Well if they no longer have a head or a heart or can't breath. They arn't going to fight very well. But they wouldn't lose a head or a heart in the first place, they would be too quick. So your telling me that fully armed men would be to quick for a galloping horse?

However, a Variag would be able to dodge out of a single swing and then following with his own strike.

Mythmaster, my army is on page 2, you must have missed it. Ready to help me do a practice battle? I'm ready, but I am afraid that I don't see the army. Maybe it got lost in Moderation? Maybe it's at the end of Page 1? I'll go check it out a second time, but I didn't see anything.

I said 5,000 MWE. We are fighting on a plain. 100 Sheilds of Fire (similar to Roman Legionaires) (500 worth) 500 Tsur-Nemu (bezerkers with "flails") (1,000) 100 Kharvach-Mori (light cavalry) (500 worth) 500 Enlisted Swordsmen (500) 500 Enlisted Pikemen (500) 100 Variags (Heavy bezerker axemen) (1,000) 1,000 Archers. (1000) Now, as 8Legos said, you would want lots of cavalry and archers against this army. HOWEVER, since you're learning the ropes, I'd suggest making whatever army you feel comfortable with. Would you feel better having lots of archers? Or do you think that having a large number of axemen is more your style? figure that out and post your army. 1,000 Coastal Raiders: 1,300 worth 100 Companions: 300 worth 500 Corsairs: 500 worth 1,000 Corsair archers: 1,000 worth 200 Corsair Raiders: 200 worth 200 Corsair Spearmen: 200 worth 100 Blademasters of the Bay: 300 worth 100 Hatholdir (axe men): 500 worth 400 Belegaer archers: 400 worth 100 Belegar Marksmen: 300 worth How's this look? I used lots of cavalry as you mentioned, plus a lot of archers to counter yours:). Then I tried using a variety of different close combat units. Here it is! Awesome! OK, I'll go first. which is the Cavalry? I'm guessing the Coastal Raiders and Corsair raiders are cavalry, otherwise. . . *The Shields of Fire and Tsur-Nemu create a formation like this: /T\/T\ (the slashes are the Shields)* that's 150 unitry, their is 350 other Tsur-Nemu *450 Pikemen form up behind the formation, in 3 rows.* *The Kharvach-Mori charge off to the side, ready to charge into range of their bows* *250 Swordsmen, 25 pikemen, 100 Tsur-Nemu and 50 Variags form into a flank, mixing them completely.* *50 Tsur-Nemu form behind as a Re-inforcements* *The Archers form up behind, ready to fire a barrage* *Everything begins marching forward, archers firing when in range.* OK, I am not sure how you go about attacking my main base- Most of the unitry are pretty similar to Umbars. I'd suggest using some heavier cavalry first, following with some heavier infantry. If someone creates a sheild-wall like formation (which is what I did) and has Pikemen behind it, then cavalry is difficult. But then, Cavalry is the best way to take down a sheildwall without pikes or spears, so. . . yeah. As for the Kharvach-Mori, you need to take them out. They are cavalry with bows, so it should be obvious what their strategy will be. Oh, and I don't have a super large number of Archers, but you know.

I could see it, so if I had to respost it it wouldn't have been an issue:). So what do I do now? Do I set up formations and stuff? If so, any suggestions about how to do that?

So what do I do now? Do I set up formations and stuff? If so, any suggestions about how to do that? Next you would deploy your units. I would put your more defiencive troops, corsair's, C spears in the middle and put your more heavily armed Bladesmasters, raides, axemen, troops on the flanks. Then of their flanks, put your cav. I would split up your coastal raiders, but keep your companions together. Then behind everything place your archers.
It should look somthing like this. (if I can make this map right.)
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

Kee: M =MM troops. CR = Coastal raiders. AI = Aggressive infantry DI = Defensive Infantry C = Companons A = Arrchers.
